as some of you know i have installed an rb26dett into my 240sx (1990), ive got the motor running and everything is cool. My list of upgrades include a large fmic, 550cc injectors, walbro pump, apexi avcr, graddy bov, and an spl tuned computor.

my problem is this. the car idles fine and sounds very strong, when i put the car in gear and let it roll around 1500rpm and hit the throttle the car bogs heavily and almost feels like its goinna stall, but when the car hits boost it goes like a bastard until 6600rpm when it starts to backfire and sputter

i cant figure out whats going on here, i know this isnt normal

an example of this is

put car in gear and let idle ,hit gas and car sputters and bogs as rpm climbs, car goes into boost and pulls real hard (.8 bar ) rpm gets to 6600prm starts to sputter and bog again, switch gears and hammer on gas ,car bogs and then picks up again

im thinking that i might have an issue with the ecu i have , the place i bought it from said the ecu came out of an r32 with n1's 550cc's and fmic so i figure that this would be the same for me (but i only have the stock turbos) but this i purchased the ecu from has given me nothing but bs about everything i purchased from them

if anybody has has this issue and can shed some light on this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

also i would like to try a stock r32 ecu in my car to verify if this is the issue , if anybody in the GTA area could help me out that would be great as im in oakville

thanks

you cant expect to pick up some ecu with similar bolt-ons and expect it to work on your car. you're probably experiencing a lot of richness when you first step on it, thus the bog. Get a real tune with wb02 and egt and you'll know for sure. there's no point in guessing at it.. its a bad idea and you'll end up breaking something

he has spoken the truth, don't cheap out or screw around with engine manangement. guessing at tune is cheaper in the short run but knowing things are right equals less money in the long run

thanks guys, i was leaning to getting a tune done, that might also explain why the car runs hot , that could be also the fact that im runnig my fans in the push configuration

so... you've checked timing, mafs, fuel pressure and all that good stuff? sounds like my problem with timing, i couldn't get my rb25 above 6k

as for the bog at shift, sounds like venting problem DSM's have. are rb26's recirculated stock? if so, recirculate it, don't vent to atmosphere as it looks like you're doing in you engine pic.
