Hello , I'm new here

Anyway , I own an 95' S14 sylvia , which hasan RB26dett (from an R33) swap.

I didn't make the swap, bought it as is.

other modifications are greddy FMIC , walbro fuel pump , 2X2.5" downpipes that connect to a 3" exhaust,AEM C2DI Igniter, And Splitfire Ignition Coils, and its all managed by a haltech E11 e.m.s (with map sensor)

other than that , turbo's , injectors etc are STOCK.

I have 2 questions

1) how much power shold i be expecting from this setup (considering I dont want to exceed 15 PSI of boost , thats the max ,right ?)

2) the r33 rb26dett , how much power can it handle with stock internals? (I've searched this forum and I couldn't find an answer)

* some guy in the sticky topic (discussing RB20\25\26 swap costs) mentiond that stock RB26 can handle 425WHP and over 1000 on stock bottom end, yet no one gave him backup posts...

I really hope you can give me some answers.

I appologize for my bad english skills and really poor forum searching skills, please be gentle

This guy is from Tel-Aviv. lol

Umm I don't know about 1000hp.But Unless your making a straigth track Drag car, your not going to want 1000hp.

Underground motorsports (Riggs) made 732 or 752whp on a stock bottom end.

Nice setup. If you don't mind me asking. How much did you buy that car for?

what the heck happened to that guy(Tom)?

anyway.. sounds like your motor should be making stock or slightly more than stock power.. my guess is ~300-325 rwhp.

That was geoff at full race, not chris riggs. his bottom end was not unopened either. some would consider it "stock bottom end" but i dont think i would.

tom is a good friend of mine for years now.

He started learning, working, and he got fed up with speed.he has a b.m.w 320 convertible now , A\T

I bought It for aprox 18K $ ...

It needs a new clutch and some tuning....

And I plan on a direct fit HKS2540 or somthing in a few months, thats why I wanna know if it can handle the 550-650 hp while remaining stock bottom end.

325whp ? with 15 PSI of boost , thats it ?

i read 18psi and the turbo will explode (break) whichever u prefer.

i was planning on using 15psi to see how things go but i prolly wont since i recently heard it is best not to pass 12psi on stock turbos, anything after that is apparently playing with fire.

on the bottom end ?...i've always been under the impression that 600whp is max "safely".

good luck with your car. hope that helped some.

The consensus with all my mechanic friends is between 10-12psi on factory turbo is the safer-extreme zone and the bottom end is 400-500 ish, basically I am seconding ATpossible with my research

26 bottom end should see 800 with a good tunable EMS & a good tuner. But definatly would need larger than the 2540's

o.k...

I understand that the GT2540 shouldhave no problen dealing with 550 whp,

there is also the slightly bigger GTRS (52T)

by the way , with GT2540 (46T), when shouldI expact full boost ?

and I see opinions vary about the stock bottom power capablities.... some say 800, some say 400.

I also understood the the factory turbos canthandle excess boost of 14-15 PSI ,but how much power should it give ?

thanks for all the posts, you guys are great !

I wouldn't consider it a Stock Bottom end,But I would say stock internals though.

Just the accesories were upgreaded.

He says that he used the stock pistons, rods even the old rings.

The weak link to the stock bottom end is the rod bolts and the piston ringlands. I have heard that the stock rod bolts are not good for anything past 500whp at 8000rpm for any extended period of time and if you have a few good pings in your engine at these power levels there is a good chance you will break a ring land.

For my motor, I upgraded to CP Pistons, am using the stock rods with ARP rod bolts, and ARP headstuds. Should be more than strong enough for 550whp on pump gas and 8000rpm max revs.

estimate low to (maybe) mid 400's with a proper tune at 15psi.

there have been skylines that achieved 1000hp on stock bottom end but not sure how long they lasted under the stress. if you are going for that level of power you should probably invest in upgraded internals, i mean why risk it?

good luck with your new project!

If you want to reallybecome educated on the rb26 and its possibilites, i suggest you take a look at http://www.skylinesaustralia.com and gtr.co.uk Search on those sites and you will find tons of information such as the RB26 dyno thread on Skylinesaustralia under the forced inductin forum and gtr.co.uk has a turbo forum where people discuss various options. I suggest you find somebody else w/ a setup that you like and copy it.

Thats great , thanks , thats very helpful !

Altough its a bit disappointing - not such high hp numbers I was expacting... but they are talking about 4WD cars which loose a great dealof hp from the crank.
