search twinturbo.net. it has been done at least once in japan.

the RB is a very long motor, barely fits in there.

you do realize that a v6 engine is 3 clyinders long, while an inline6 is 6 cylinders long, right? Although it has been done before, it would cost an enormous amount of money. As one of my friends likes to say "Sometimes nobody has done it because it's a bad idea." Here is a pic though (notice that this also will likely only work in a RHD car):

Boileralum's right on the $$$ part. I've been doing some searching for a while now on the possiblity of this particular swap and contacted many US shops that specialize in swaps of the freakish kind. Unstable Hybrids being the only ones willing to partake the project. Here goes...First off of course the engine bay is two short for the straight 6. The firewall is cut and reformed to make room for the extra length in engine and for the girth of the beginning of the transmission. Skyline is a rhd vehicle only(unless switched to lhd) so it makes the process much easier if you can get ahold of a Z32 Fairlady dashboard so extra cost isn't racked up for a lhd conversion engine wise. And yes you can get just the dash and harness without having to buy an entire Fairlady Z front clip. Street Imports helped me with that. Harness is needed to basically mate the Skyline and Fairlady harnesses together. A GT-R front clip has to be bought...waiting for mine from a 92 R32-but minus the transmission. Thing is that most of the time a GT-S transmission is sent with the RB26 instead of the one for awd. Although the standard GT-R's ATTESA ES system is great..I'm going for the V-SPEC version-ATTESA ES PRO. Not only is power divied up rear to front, but also left and right..which is gorgeous for road racing. This has been my only challenge and am still trying to get my paws on the computer system and basic drivetrain from a V-Spec. Of course custom driveshafts must be made as 'Godzilla' is a much larger car than the Fairlady.Along with engine bay mods just to accept an inline instead of the V configuration, structral reinforcements must be made to the front part of the Z's frame because it was not made to support a powered set of front wheels also. Obviously cutom motor mounts and transmission mounts go without saying. One might ask just why?? I want a car that is truly unique and has the performance of the legendary car from Nissan. Believe it or not the entire bulid will cost less than having an R32 shipped here via MotoRex or RB Motoring. The cost of the transplant is approx $14000 from Unstable for the RB26/5-speed manual swap into a Z32 chassis with them providing the skyline clip. They drop the price to $10000 when you can provide your own clip. They do charge extra for converting to RHD, so if you find someone to do it, try and have it converted before sending it them. Still trying to find the complete drivetrain system for the ATTESA ES PRO awd so not sure on pricing on that. Hope this helps you out in what an involved project it is...but in exchange you get an engine capable of having major hp increases, and if you opt for the awd in addition unbelievable launching power.Chris
