Hello

Car Nissan 240sx S14

I have been Looking around for a new motor right now i run a boosted ka 350whp and it just inst enough. So for a new power plant and am thinking of the Rb26dett. Looking on-line for a motor + Trany all the prices i see are about 2.8g to 3.5g. Is that normal price for them? Now on the conversion it self i have read that i need the Rb25 trany and i need to make custom motor mounts + lots of fun with the spaghetti factory "wiring harness". If anyone has any tips or websites that could help me with the conversion plz point me in their direction.

Thanks

Those prices are low if anything. I wouldn't buy a $2800 RB26 unless I knew the guy personally and trusted them enough not to scam me. As regards the swap itself a search would have done you well. There is a FAQ sticky in the RB forum that address questions similar to the ones you posed. For the best info on an engine try to consult the engine specific forum for it.

Good luck.

$3,500 to $4k is average price range for an rb26 and rb25det trans go for average $800- $1200 the wiring isnt bad you can get the DIY wiring info on http://www.racebread.com and you can get your mounts from http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com or http://www.phase2motortrend.com (mckinney mounts are a bit cheaper on phase2 unless mckinney has a sale going on) otherwise if you have any questions ill be more then happy to help you.

Thanks for the help now whats the deal with The Twin Turbo vs 1 BIG One i know there will be a difference in lag but with a built bottom end and head i was told they can rev to 10g. Now with a 10g revin engine lag shouldn't be a problem at all but i don't know my kadet spools at 3k and at 5.5k am building 15psi. Now with a big turbo vs 2 smaller ones at what rpms will they spool and what psi will they build a chart would be awesome.

Thanks again

well the twins have quick spool up but has downpipe clearance issues, the big single has lag but also depends on the turbo you choose but my friends big .70ar single rb26 s13 his spools up at around 5k but when its starts to spool up its pretty instant full boost, my stock twins spool up at around 3,800rpm area i never really paid attention but its more of a gradual pull and not intstant like my friens single rb26. also the rb26 with stock bottom end redlines at 8,000rpm not 10,000rpm.

Hello

Some More Problems Poped into my head last night.

- Rb26 Transmition Gear Ratio Vs Rb25 (they the same? is one weaker one stronger? the gears be interchangeable) I know the rb26 is a all wheel drive one and it wont fit.

-Drive shaft Length and ends(do i just get a custom one piece drive shaft)

-Gauge Cluster(does Nissan sell ones that will fit into my 240 cluster "Tachometer and the odometer"

Thanks again

yes the r32 r33 rb26 trans has the same ratios as the rb25 cause i just rebuilt my rb25 trans with parts from my rb26 trans that came with my motor and the input shaft is the main thing thats different between the two.also you can get a one piece drive shaft for your swap from http://promo-innovation.com/ and final your s14 speedo reads the rb speed sensor acuratly cause mine and alot of my other rb friends with s14s speedo are acurate. and also you can adjust the s14 tach to read the rb just by a turn of a screw on the back of the tach removed from the cluster.

350rwhp aint enough for ya? I have my ka-t at that and i'm happy anyhtgn that challenges me I destroy and has enough power to take turns and not just roast and spin out all the time. My ne wpowerplant in my vert will be big power. Why not consider the vh45de powerplant with a turbo 10psi is 535rwhp
