There is a D1 RB26 powered 350Z, so it could be done. Although im not sure how much work it would involve. My guess is most would have to be custom, since i have only seen that one. Try searching the internet for the D1 RB powered Z. I think its white and blue and has the ORC logo on it.

Its really not that bad of a swap as long as you can make the mounts your self. The whole front of the z comes off so it makes it easy to work on. You have to change the oil pan. You want to use the rb20 with the rear sump, & then make a custom pickup. I think the shifter will come up through the stock positon as long as you have the engine set as far back as possible in the engine bay. I hope this little bit of info helps.

haha its not gonna be a street car if you do that swap.

first and foremost the car would be completley emissions illegal. secondly all the elecrical tie in's would be a ***** to make work. cluster, dash gauges, etc. probably gonna if not completley lose them, forced to go custom.

IMHO, the swap is only feasible if you have very (read: extremely) deep pockets. the S and old Z body swaps are much more practical simply because the initial car cost is so much lower. I don't really imagine a private person (unsponsored) taking apart a 2001+ model year car worth ~25k for the swap. At that point, I would really consider just buying a Skyline and legalizing it.

With that said, to each his own... it would be a sweet car if done right. Motor definitely has more potential/aftermarket support than the VQ. Not to mention the rareness factor. Seems like any modded 350z is a twin turbo or SC VQ these days...

realistically boosting the vq for street and road racing will be able to produce more than enough power.i have seen some very fast z cars on the vq.

yeah, add up your costs.

350z used 20,000rb26dett used 5,000Driveshaft 300total 25,300

now if you can't do the rest and can't weld you will have even more costs. these are just estimates:wiring 500throttle cable 200intake piping 400mounts 400intercooler 500TOTAL 1900

now your up to 27,000+ and that doesn't count into the equation hundreds or 1k+ on random hoses, missing parts, A/C, Power Steering Lines, etc.

All this and your in probably close to 30,000 with a used 50k mile motor that was put into a car that had to be modified to get it in there meaning, you may have rattles, rubbing of parts, and other loose ends you wouldn't have if you just spent the same money on a Skyline in the first place.

Now how about this insteadturbo kit: $5599TOTAL $5599 done
