hey guys

i recently bought a gtr and still have manys13 parts lying around my house

long story short, ive heard rumour that the sr20det clutch and flywheel will work with an rb

specifically i have a clutch kit for an s14 sr20det. i know if i want a better clutch i should just buy one for an rb, but this is an os giken twin plate that ive had lying around for a while and would like to use it if possible

anyone know if this is true? ive tried researching but came up with no hard evidence

and i dont need to be a pain in the as but i need this info by tommarow. cra is in the shop right now onthe hoist with the transmission out, so we would like to know for sure asap if possible

thanks

what are you counting there? the pressure plate bolts? that has nothing to do with compatibility. all that means is you can bolt a pressure plate on to the flywheel.

whats important is the input shaft # of splines, the flywheel diameter (so it can engage with the starter and fit in the bellhousing), the # of splines on the flywheel so it can mesh with the starter, and the # of flywheel bolt holes so it can bolt onto the crank.

my GUESS is the input shaft splines are less on the SR, flywheel diameter is smaller, and # of flywheel splines are different. flywheel bolt holes might be the same.

+1 and to add to that the offset of the flywheel would make a difference as well as to mesh with the starter.

If I remember correctly the KA flywheel is the same as the RB. However, the pressure plate is different since the number of spines on the disk plate as well as the pressure plate bolt pathern.

As Carl would say, "sounds like a cluster f*#k".

Sell the SR clutch buy a RB clutch, problem solved.

thanks cheif

so it doesnt look like the sr clutch assembly will be compatible with the rb flywheel

as for the spline #'s, im not sure on the sr's

if you kept the rb flywheel and just sued the sr clutch assembly, would that work maybe (if the sr input shaft spline numbers are the same)? the pressure plate ad flywheel bolts appear to be the same.

im gunna just tell the mechanic who suggested this that it wont mesh up

i would just sell this kit, since i no longer play with sr's. but no one has shown any interest in it and its been for sale for some time now.

can't hurt to try it out. i doubt it though unless you have an os giken twin flywheel from the RB... the twin plates usually have their own way of mounting the pressure plate cuz it needs to hold the floating mini flywheel still.

that said, i dont think the input shaft of the SR matches the input shaft of the RB, so your clutch discs prolly can't be used either.

i've never tried first hand so give it a shot and let everyone else know since you've already got the part.
