lol. search little grasshopper. The swap is MUCH harder than a blacktop sr20. I think the RB26 swap in any 240sx will be a PITA.

Please read more. You're apparently one of those newbie morons that wants a MaD tYte JdM eNginE sWaP Yo!!! It's an enormously complex task of putting an RB26DETT into ANY year or chassis 240SX, and given what you said in your post you don't know near enough to be able to accomplish even 1/1000th of the task. Please read more, search more, and do more research.

trpower7, why would you list all the problems to your car in your sig, do you honestly think people want to read that?

the sr swap is relatively easy as far as engine swaps go, however the RB series swaps are much different stories..

By much different story, we mean really really difficult, even for your experienced, ASE mechanic.

Seeing as how I'm on something like 1000 posts and this is the first time I've heard a complaint about it, I'd say no one really minds it. A lot of people have similar things in their sigs, images, etc, which take up bandwidth, etc, so I'd hardly say my relatively small list is obtrusive. If you don't want to read it, don't. Seems pretty logical to me.

Well Hang in there. The newbie bashing will hopefully not last long!(*HINT*)I am glad that you are looking to get a Nissan. The 240 should be much more fun than your camery even with the stock motor. If you really want a RB powered 240 its going to cost ya time and $$$.There are several people on NICO with the RB in their 240 so do your home work and maby some of them will be nice and post up some positive feedback.;)

Im in the middle of an RB25DET swap. (The motor out of an R33 GTS-T incase you didnt know. The swap right now isnt so hard. Though I've only pulled the motor from the clip. Its pretty much the same thing as an SR swap, just with a bigger transmission and 2 more cylinders. I know once I start dropping it in the S13 it will get way more difficult. Everything pretty much bolts up fine with a few exceptions and a little more custom work. Wiring would be the hardest things to do on the swap, but IF you did your reseach you'd find http://www.supertunermotorsports.com can sell you a motor mount kit which is hightly recommended but more importantly a custom wiring harness that plugs right into your JDM motor and your USDM car with no problem. Doing the RB26DETT will cause you only more problems. now you have to cut out some of you engine bay to fit the turbos in the bay. And ya, like someone said before. Do your reasearch before you concider doing a swap like this. It takes money, time and patients. And having someone else do it? There is no fun in that. The best part about the swap is driving YOUR finished project. Not someone else. Its all you though. Oh, their are also more people o supply harnesses and kits. Do the research. You havent even got a 240 yet.

I have a blast in my aging stock S13 ... who says 160ish hp (minus some for age I'm sure :-) can't be fun?

Just take it out to a slightly gravely road with no one around and ... whoom! (My tires are grippy and my suspension is stock so I don't slide much on smooth dry roads :-) The fun starts <grin>

Besides, you have plenty to do first... try changing a stuck 02 sensor on a hot motor with way-to-little space and incorrect tools. Fun, ehh? :-)

Just my $.03: Get an RB25 if you do go the RB path... Near the same numbers. Much cheaper. No major fitment issues.

So far its been a one person job. If you have all the right tools you can do it by yourself. It does help having two people or more. Things get unbolted faster and put back together quicker. I plan on being the only one really working on my swap. The feeling of having done it myself will be cool. Like I said. I've only taken the RB out of the clip which was easy, but Im sure when its going in the 240 it will get a little more difficult and I might need someone else to help me. Yes, my 240 is an S13.
