Hello all, I've been looking at a few engine swaps to put into my Datsun 510, and I believe I have decided to go with an RB26dett.

Are there known complications in doing this swap?Any information about these engines and the swap is greatly appreciated.

The car will be used as a track car hoping to make about 650 whp. Does this seem a reasonable option?

thanks in advance for the info.

Jason

LOL 650hp in a 510 for a track car?

youre f***ing crazy. youll NEVER put that power down.

i have a bigger car, with more tire capabilities, and can barely control 400whp on a R comp tire.

whats wrong with a rb25?

you should base your HP on your tires.. that's all I am going to say...

keep it cheap and just get an rb20 or hell even an sr20. You can get 300rwhp out of an sr20 alot cheaper than it will cost you to modify an rb. If money is no object and your a baller for a 4k plus rb26dett i say do it.

will require moving the fire wall back and custom frame built to handle the power, custom mounts, radiator, intercooler, very short drive shaft, cutting out the trans tunnel and making a new one...plus alot more. Go with a CA/KA or SR....

My buddy is almost done with his 13b turbo 510. After it's tuned, it should be making around 400-500whp depending on the boost. It's his first track car...

stick with a rb25 for cost reasons, (already get the 25 transmission w motor) and do a few bpu and some sorta ems, youll be happy at 350-400whp on that body!!!!!!

400-700 whp is scary as hell in a s body let alone a 510
