Hey guys I'm about to make my first Skyline purchase here in the US and trying something new besides my Supras, so any help would be appreciated.

The car I'm getting is an RB20 R34, I want to swap the Rb26 with the 25 transmission and keep the car RWD. (unless I can somehow get my hands on a GTR R34 clip here in the states which is highly unlikely). How direct will the swap be? I'm sure this prob has been brought up a bunch but i tried searching numerous times and couldnt find what I was really looking for. Is this my best option? I prefer the 26 over the 25 but I'm not too sure of the pros and cons of both since I havent had much experience with them. ANY feedback is appreciated. Thanks

humm hows is that you have a RB20 in a R34 . its supposed to be rb25det neo or the rb26.. check that out. and the same power you can make with a rb26 you can make it with a rb25. now if you put a stroker kit in the 26 then its a new ball game.. the swap its not hard but i think youll need a stand alone since the sensors are not the same and a custom made driveshaft .. besides that it should be piece of cake good luck and post some pics when you get the car

The GF- HR34 came with the RB20DE motor, and no the RB25DET can NOT safely make the same power as the RB26DETT..450HP on theRB25 without replacing internals, andif you dont it wont last very long...

if your R34 with awd, you can change it to RB26DETT AWD very easy, but if you need to keep it RWD just change the engine and use the RB25DET transmission, its very good for RB26 engine and we use it when we install the rb26 in olds car like 240z and more, its very easy to install the rb26 in any skyline spicially R32, R33 and R34, so just bring the engine and rb25det manual transmission or (NEO RB25DET manual transmission 6 speed already installed in R34 GTS-T), and you know you should be change the powers cable and computer and airmas for the RB26,

good luck

well im not sure about this, since we in PR have like 6-9 S14 and S13 with rb25det and making over 500whp with stock internals(pistons, rods, crank, stock cams and valves).. my mec run at 38psi on a daily driver S14. so i guess all depends on the tuning and set up ...

any ways good luck with the swap and post some pics when your done

Hey thanks for the responses guys!!

No the car is a RWD Rb20de, so I guess keeping RWD would be the most cost effective way when converting it. (unless i can find an R34 front clip here in the states.) Will a R33 GTR front clip work on my car? Reason I ask i bc i can get a hold of those here in the US and that could be my only hope of making it AWD.But on the other hand, assuming I go with the 26 engine and 25 transmission it will hold up fine? how much power can they handle? I thought the 25 transmission were 5spd, are they 6spds on the Neo Rb25s as you were stated in your post? Also, what about the differential, Im assuming the diff on the car wont be able to support the power, what are my options?

Appreciate the help evryone

Rb25det 5 speed transmission support to 800hp, its same in Rb25det NEO 6 speed transmission support, this is a point, but about the differential i am not sure but some frinds get 730 whp and 815 whp with rb25det original transmission and differential, they drive the cars daily and racing hard weekly without any problems, they use semi slick tires NOT full slick.by the way you can upgrade your transmission using O.S giken transmission kit, same in your differential, so install the original kits then if you facing any problems install that upgrade kit

good luck

Ummm, correct me if I am wrong, and provide proof, but I am pretty sure that the RB25DET Neo engines only came with 5 speeds. The 6 speed Getrag was a GT-R option only.

Also, if you would try converting a RWD to an AWD, you would likely run into more problems than it's worth. Just find yourself a nice RB26 engine and RB25 transmission, do the oilpan mod, take out the front diff and call it a day.

Whats the oil pan mod? Is there a write-up from anywhere for this swap? What else is needed?

The RB26DETT is an AWD motor, so the front differential bolts to the turbo side of the engine and oil pan. The front shaft goes through the oil pan to the driver side of the car for the front wheels.

The mod is to take off the differential, oil pan and related goodies and get an RB25DET oil pan and mod it to fit.

This doesn't have a lot of info, but it'll give you an idea of what you need to do if you don't want to do the 25 pan.
