Hola Everyone!!!I've been trying to figure out why the hell my GTR idles so high!!!Start up it idle's around 1800-1900rpm and by the time it warms up it only drops down to roughly 1600rpm... sometimes it climbs back to 1800rpm...

Now i understand there's a few things why it would idle so high... 1... vacuum leak2... AAC valve3... Charcoal canister4... dirty mafs

I've gone over (from what i can find anyways) the vacuum lines... can't find a leak... but that doesn't mean there isn't one!!!

I have no idea how the hell i can even get to the AAC valve since it's under the intake manifold

I don't think it's the charcoal canister...

I took both mafs off and cleaned them w/ carby cleaner

I've taken the front bumper off... tightened all of my intercooler couplings that i could reachI've disconnected the ecu and reconnected it so it would reset.... the ecu isn't flashing any codes... I'm stumped!!!!

Any helping suggestions are more than appreciated.... oh by the way i'll post a couple pictures for you fellas that i took a few days ago....

the 26 is supposed to idle higher.. but not that high. around 11-1200 i think is what the fsm says. block off your holes and try to fill the tract with compressed air to check for leaks. if not, adjust your aac. you should be able to reach under the manifold with a small flat head screwdriver to adjust the idle

this is going to sound really harsh but i simply cannot believe that you got a gtr when you couldnt diagnois a swapped s14 with an rb25.

your throttle gaskets are bad, happens all the time on older gtrs, a search on sau would have told you that.

How sure are you about that idle speed? I thought it was closer to 650rpms. I'm confused, i'll check my FSM tomorrow at the shop.

If it is supposed to be around 1K, I'll be happy, because that means there's nothing wrong with mine

Check the timing, and make sure its timed to 20 degrees +/- 1 degree for 950 rpms. The marks on the crank pulley go like so... First mark is 0, third is ten, 5th is 20, and 7th is 30. So you'll want to set it at the 5th timing mark or a hair before or after it.

Also... make sure your throtlle spring/body isnt gunked up and staying open becuase its got junk in it, hit it with carb cleaner and the DW-40

or his throttle gaskets are leaking, but he wont check them like he should and start throwing parts at it to fix the problem.

Carb cleaner is not good for MAF sensors..

What about the "fuel injection intake" cleaner stuff? What do you suggest.

By the way, take the carb cleaner and spray it all over the TB gaskets and listen for a drop in rpms. If you get it, you've got a leak

if you are going to clean your maf sensor you should use contact cleaner not brake cleaner/carb cleaner/fuel injection cleaner.the latter bits will leave a thin film of crap on the maf wire and cause it to read weird.you can get contact cleaner right next to the brake cleaner at any auto parts store.

Yeah actually B12 chemtool carb cleaner leaves a residue, and they do have non residue forumla brake cleaner, used it all the time at work. Contact cleaner does work the goodness though.
