I was looking on youtube for videos on rebuilding engines and cylinder heads and I came across a shop that did some work on an rb26.

Since I'm putting together a rb20 with used valves (after a machine shop checks them out of course) I thought this would be useful for a lot of people!

And if any experienced engine builder has any tips Id appreciate it.

The second way he did it was they way i was taught. By pulling out and spinning at the same time. The first way seems like it would cut to much into the valve seat, when i thought the idea was to just re-mate the surfaces to fit each other again.

I've always did it with a low speed drill from the other side. I would connect the drill and valve stem (lube the stem) with a fuel line. Move the valve away from the seat (with valve lapping compound on the seat) and begin free spinning the valve. Once it is up to speed, pull on the drill to "tap" the seat much like he is doing by hand. So it will basically look like very quick pulls into the seat. It's easier and lets you concentrate more on giving the valve quick in and out movements rather then spinning it.
