I was wondering if you can install the RB26 valve covers and timing belt cover ona RB25 and still retain the RB25 stock cross over pipe? Also is there any way of getting around haveing to cut a hole in the front cover for the bump on the stock belt cover?Could it be spaced out? Also which holes exactly on the 26 cover need to be drilled or modified to make it fit the 25.

Thanks in advance guys.

if you notice, the picture supplied above is a RB20 with 26 covers.

What is being demostrated is that the RB26 valve covers can not be used with factory style cross over manifolds.

I know this is kinda off topic but can you use the stock fuel rail and stock injectors with the Greddy intake manifold?

So say you have a Greddy Intake, can RB26 valve covers and front timing cover fit on a 25 then?

Yes for RB20 and RB25, if you have forward facing IM, but remember for Rb25 you have to cut hole in timing belt cover for VVT/VCT .Like in this pric from zilvia.net

in the picture up top that looks to be a 26 cover on a 25 engine..... Why doesnt anyone else do this??? Looks great minus the fact that you would be in the catagory of "posers"

That was the purpose of the pic, if you want to put front timing cover, you'll have to cut hole in it, RB20 would look clean with RB26 covers and Forward IM. But I would rather get RB26 instead.

Because every time you pop your bonnet ricers would be"yo tha'z a skyline motor" And then would give bad name for "skyline motor", if it was stock, and u would got beat by some riced out civic with "nozzzz" .

Unless I came across a dirt cheap cover set, that I wouldn't be able to pass up

what the hell are you talking about.. of course that is a 20 with 26 covers on it, theb the other is a 25 with 26 covers on it.

i was refering to the 26 plenum. the 26 is a diffent head then 25 and 20 and i was told it has a diffrent bolt pattern than the other 2 engines. that is what im talking about.

correct, a adapter plate is required. A plus to this is ITBs.

I've got 26 covers on my 25 with the 26 ITB's and surge tank. I'm not a poser though because (a) my timing cover actually says "RB25" on it and (b) I smoke most of the RB26's I come across

Since there are no valve cover baffles made for the RB25, I have actually considered swapping out the RB25s for the RB26 valve covers so I could run the Tomei valve cover baffles and improve the PCV system. I know it is totally ricey, but can you make the arguement for form before function???

The rb26 covers on a rb20 will fit but is the timing cover backing plate needed? and why?

i think is rb26 on 93+ rb25 because they both have VVT on the intake side so they should both have a bump so the cross over will still work

now on rb20 there is no vvt so it dosnt need the bump so the intake sits lower so it will not fit

Not sure why exactly, but I think it just has some little ears that need trimming. I still have my 25 backing plate on mine after I trimmed off the little "ears" at the top corners. Just hold it up and compare. You'll see what I mean. I'm assuming the 20 is the same way.

I'm not exactly sure what you just said from the lack of grammer, but RB26's never came with VCT (VVT is toyota) in any year, R32-R34. The only turbo motors that came from the factory with VCT are 25's.

I have 26 covers that I want to put on. Only question I have is what to do with the pcv? I am running a Greddy catch can.
