Hey Im working on installing my oil catch can. I decided I wanted everything to look nice so I am going to go with AN Lines.

I was hoping to just be able to tap/die the stock breather outlets on the valve covers, for -10 AN fittings. Has anyone done this, I took it to a tool shop and the guy said flat out he wouldn't try because there wouldn't be anything left. I really dont want to spend 20$ on a die to find out he was right lol. So has anyone tried that?

My idea for tapping the stock breather outlets: First cut the tube in half, then die the outlets that point to the front of the engine, fittings to the catch can go on those. Then tap the outlets pointing to the side and then plug them.

Secondly, I looked around to see how everyone else has done it on their RB26, and pictures dont really say how it was done though. Did you guys cut them off or pound them out? To me they look like they were pressed in. Whats the easy way?

If you cutting and welding you may as well just get a weld-on AN fitting to keep the profile height to the minimum. That's what i did; trimmed the stock bungs down and left just enough to weld the fitting to.

i used a 3/4NPT tap and used 3/4npt to -12 fittings ( 90 degree fittings)

on my Rb25 covers i used a 1/2NPT tap and 1/2npt to -10 ( 90 degree fittings)

here are a few pictures.. BTW the rb25 valve cover set is for sale

Raw Brokerage now sells press-in AN bungs.

As far as the valve covers go you just have to keep an eye out, nobody has a stock of them or anything. Though, a few months back I did see an JDM engine importer on eBay that had a whole NICS RB20 engine set for sale with these covers on it.
