I'm planning on swapping an rb26 into my s13 and would like to know if a toyota/getrag v161 or v160 transmission could work with the rb to keep my car RWD.

hope you have 10+k first off just for a stock swap!

you can cut the piece of the transfer case off that connects to the front driveshaft and weld a plate over it so you wount have to drop 900-1300 on a rb25det transmission (which is how every one dose the 26 swap)

searching is your friend!

please post what you said above in the rb forums, id liek to see you get flamed!

Track or DD? either way i would go with th rb25 transmission. If not then go with the OS Giken OS-88 6 speed. Its a race engine but can be used for DD too.

are you going to be using this for straight line or auto cross?

you should be more worried about breaking shift forks then stripping off gears, i threw 600whp+ on m/ts for over a year. the only thing i would break would be the 3-4 shift fork.

hope this helps

Again thanks for the help. I'll be using the car as a daily driver and it WILL see some major 1320 runs and eventually some drifting & time attack.

if your RB26 swapping why not use the AWD trans that comes with it? and then just use the front diff from the RB26? Then use an R32...

Why not just buy an R32? Seriously your going to dump 10-15k in just modifications to start to make an S chassis sweet with that engine, but serious Motorex imported R32 GTR = 32k right now on ebay,

Buy that, drive the piss out of it, fix it up a little bit, then re sell it for exactly what you paid for it, instead of loosing 40k on a 240sx

not to mention

then you have a realskyline
