I am really debating on either building up an original VG30DETT or getting an RB26DETT. I've been leaning more to the side of an RB26. Although its a more expensive swap, an RB26 in a Z32 seems very cool.

Ive read somewhere that an AWD GTR R32 RB26 bolts on just nice with the Z32 transmission. I would like to know who has done this swap and is it true? Pictures would be GREAT. Also what type of EMS is most preferable for either VG or the RB.

I would personally encourage you to stick with the VG, it's a fantastic motor. But if you have the itch to swap in an RB, there is no reason you can't I have an old buddy of mine that had a Killer 2+2 with an RB25 that was no joke. Until someone stole it....

Thanks. We're you there for the build? Do you know if the Z32 bell housing will fit on the RB25 or will I need the RB25 bell housing? (Or for the RB26 preferably)

It was not a Street trans, he had...I believe a TH400. but to the best of my knowledge they do fit up.

Not sure about the 25 (pretty sure it doesn't) but the 26 and vg transmission DO NOT mate up. You must change out the bell housing.

Look at the bottom on his cost. If you have the money and drive to actually do the swap then go for it but if your thinking you want to do it cheaply and just be different your likely going to have a project never finished.

+1 to the above, I wanted a RB as well but the whole process is VERY involved and you'd really need a RB swap guru to do it properly, ESPECIALLY if you're considering the all wheel drive as it seemed you mentioned. I had all of that and more lined up, but it really isn't a practical swap for the average guy, or even a serious DIY guy IMO.
There are some swap parts available if you hunt long and hard enough, I used to have links to the adapter plate that makes the VG trans work and some other stuff but that all is gone now that the dream is dead...but if you have the $$$$$$$ and moxie, by all means go for it!

My advice is good luck dropping a down payment on a house and then some in only a motor swap. It just doesn't make sense financially but what ever does with Z's? Build what you want but be prepared to drop 25-30k for the swap to do it right and it no blow up in 1000 miles. I'd stick with the TT VG
