no speed limiter, and your choice of rev limit.

just cut the speed wire and give the computer the finger! I would leave the rev limiter in unless the motor has been prepped to be pegged regularly.

i heard on skylinesdownunder.com, that if you just cut the wire [pin 53], it still hits a limiter at around 260 kph. is this untrue?

i wanted to remove the limiter, and set fuel cut at 8500 for the rb26 [r33 or 34]

I hate the way they limit revs, ok I'm screaming along at full boost, throttle locked open and BANG! you cut the fuel?!!! **** you Nissan! are you crazy?

8500 cut, 8000 redline is too much for a stock 26?

well the R32s have narrow drive cogs for the oil pump on the crank and the oil pump gears shatter above 8500 or so and scatter the motor all over the street, that's why beople drop $1000.00 on those Jun, HKS, Greddy, Nismo pumps. Get the R33 GT-R engine, the crank has the thicker drive eccentric for the pump at least.

well, im gonna go with the 33 most likely, possibly 34. the greddy oil pump is definate due to my wanting a remote oil filter and oil cooler.

well, i kinda jumped to gun on that one. what i wanted to say was with the r33 or 34, would the stock oil pump be able to handle a remote filter, cooler, and occasional 8500 rpm?

so the oil pump wouldnt be a requirement untill internals are upgraded.

the oil pump is the primary weak point of the 26. If I had to throw money at only a few areas The oil pump would be top of the list.

so even though its less of a concern on the 33 and 34, its still an area that requires attention.

with and upgraded oil pump, the head should be removed to install the oil restrictors, correct?

we just did a head gasket on an R33 and one of the two oil supply holes was blocked off at the factory with no restrictor in the other. I never looked at that on the R32 engine to see if its the same. It would seem that Nissan wanted to restrict the amount of oil heading to the top too but did it in a different way. To my mind it would seem that having both holes open but necked down would be the better route so the head got an even supply of oil. The head on this motor showed no signs of oil starvation but it still makes me nervous.

see, i was under the impression from a skyline forum that cutting the wire on the ecu does not completely remove the speed limiter. if cutting wire 53 does infact completely kill the speed limiter, then i have no need to reprogram the ecu.
