the RB20DET oilpan is supposed to be the best starting poitn and requires the least amount fo fabrication, I'd think you'd be better off getting the RB20 pans and modifying them than t try scratch building pans

I believe moroso will custom fab pans, if you can imput the imfo to emachineshop.com they will make anything in any volume

We're making one right now for my wife's RB25 S30.

Using the RB flange and the L24 pan, and adding some additional volume on the sides.

Will post pics as it comes along.

I'm interested in seeing how well this works. The RB20DET pan has been discontinued and is unavailable. I know people in japan and I am working on getting mine, if more than 1 comes up, I'll be sure to sell it to somebody in the states at a profitable price.

it has to be a mid or rear sump to fit the S30 chassis

LOL.....I know that but I guess my question wasn't clear.

I was wondering if people were using the common rb20 front sump as a starting point for cutting and welding since it is common (r31) and the rear sump was rare as it came on the 200zr.

the zr200 pan is the common starting point, and people used to use zr munts as well, but there are off the shelf mounts now that put the engine lower and further back

The Z31 RB pan is the "easy fix", but good luck finding one.
