Hey guys:

There's a few on this board that have the 26. Perhaps we can take roll and start an e-mail group or something? It would be nice to discuss together some of the pitfalls of this swap (particularly in the 240SX), parts suppliers, easy horsepower, etc.

I'll go first:

Thanx in advance,

Scott

Jason S Memphis TNR32 Rb26 don't know the year...Going into Z32Currently doing a tune-up to the motor and looking for a good chassis. We are looking at chopping the front diff housing off the 26 oil pan and using the GTR transmission in RWD mode only. I haven't thought too much about the wiring yet. Wonder how the ECU will react to missing sensors.... Might have to use a Power FC or something similar.

We are working through the wiring right now as we speak. We have both FSM's, and I have a phenom in S14 wiring helping me out (Russ Gogans). Plus it helps I have copper in my veins too. We'll make note of what goes where...but it's pretty straight forward...a few FSM's, some solder, a soldering iron, heat shrink, and a few hours to track everything down...

Perhaps in a few weeks, but right now it just looks like an RB26 vomited in my shop. Parts everywhere. Good news is that the block is painted. Now I need to figure out how this damn JUN crank collar works. My ability to read Japanese directions is nill. Anyone have any idea? Is there machining involved, or is it a plug and play install? Oh well, if it turns out to be a pain, I'll see if I can source an R33 crank.

Looks like the crank collar needs to be machined. So my options are to find a local machine shop, or source an R33 crank.

I purchased it through RB Motoring. I think it was $180 or so...

Wicked.

Alright. I have a question. I went to fit the RB25 oil pan today and the OEM RB26 oil strainer is in the way. What to do now...bend the strainer...modify it...?

I'm using the RB25DET strainer.. but still had to cut it.

Either one needs cutting. Get someone who has a plasma cutter to quickly cut it away. It's cake.

YOU HAVE TO cut the 20-25 oil pan rail to fit it on the 26 oil-pick up. Since the 20-25 oilpan is 1-1.5 inches more narrow then the 26's oil pan, the side of the oil pan has to be modified by haveing a semicircle added (l take a round pipe and cut it in half and trim it to fit.) to be able to fit the oil-pickup. Also there are plates at the back end of the 20-25 oil pan for baffling that need to be cut off. Well on the 26 oilpan/diif it does not come with those, but instead those plates are attached on the rb26 crank girdle, I ziz-wheeled the 20-25 oil-pan plates off, then hammered them down to be flush. Well, that was not enough, the 26 plates still hit the 20-25 oilpan, so thankfully the metal is malluable, and I banged on it for an hour with a hammer and dolly , making it clear. you still have to cut off some of the front baffles so that the oil pickup goes down the right way. after all that voila bolt that thing up.

Guys, we all probably know about the Supra site, T04r.com.

I am fixing to begin working on skylinepowered.com, which will be very similiar, but list all the RB swapped cars making over xxx# of HP, yet to be determined..

Any of you guys interested? Think its a good idea?

Hey Mike:

Yeah man, I am stoked too. Sounds like TopHat will soon be having a good showing with RB26-powered S13's and S14's!
