Can people please tell me were they mounted their engine lift to their rb26? I'm trying to decide how to take this engine out safely without breaking anything. Any suggestions please...

Is it ok/possible to just remove oil pan so I don't have to worry about front driveshafts when lifting the engine out or do I have to take off hub nut and remove both driveshafts?

I know some engines come with engine "slingers" that are used to lift the engine. Is the tanish/yellowish type bracket in the center of the pic nex to oil cover a slinger for the lift? If it is were is the other one on the opposite side?

I have never done pulled a RB26 out of a skyline but this might work. Find some way to lift the front clip. Jack stands might work good here (4), Then use the hoist to lower the engine out from the bottom. If you look really hard you will see what needs to unbolted to make it work like this. If have trouble with this part you might not want to do the swap yourself.

I really just wanted to know if that yellow thing was a slinger. I already have the clip on jack stands and I considered the doing it from underneath but I have some space limitations in my garage from the ka engine, and rb25 transmission, seats, etc...

Anyway dude are u jus determined to bring people down or jus knock on everything in general? Thanks for the input on the lowering tho. Greatly appreciated by the way.

Any other opinions people?

I have an 25 not 26, but looking at the picture it looks like the lifting point is the same. From the front of the car looking towards the windshield you should have two bolt holes on the front left side of the motor (in your case looks like you actually have a bracket already attached, so use that). Now on the right side towards the rear of the motor on the top you should have another one.

That's how I got mine out. Hope that helps.

ya it does bro thanks.

however last night I didnt notice any bolt holes in the rear right side. that pic is of the front left. I jus wanted to make sure I didn't attach the lift to a soft bracket used for hoses or something being that nothing was connect to it when i saw it.

there was a similar type of metal square block in the back but the bolts stick out and was used as a oil line bracket. im checking my manual but can't find where it says of a connection.

ill check the engine again in the back of block.

When they dismantel the our skylines they drop the sub frame and the whole thing comes out easy. and real easy to reinstall I might add. But you would need a lift to do this and a jack to hold up the motor so you can let it down

that is wat i ended up doing. u r right it was pretty easy but the reason i didnt mention me thinking of doing it before was the troube i had before with the crossmember of the ka.

however now i have it dropped mostly on the ground but something is keeping it from coming off completely. ill send pics of all angles and hopefully you guys might have some suggestions. i cant tell at the moment wat is holding it. thanks for the help

there are two holes diagonally across from that first bracket you pictured which let you bolt a sling in there

ya I saw a piece similar to that of the pic on the opposite rear side but the bolts stick out of it more than the first. I'll send a pic when I get home tonight and if you don't mind I'd appreciate a verfitication.

Well it finally dropped. I had a couple of lose hoses connected that I thought was already separated. I will try to send pics this time.

Has anyone personally done a engine removal from below b/c I'd like to know what they did about safety of the engine, clip, and themself.

Also were did you connect to chassis? I've seen and read it before that it was just connected to the rad support I believe. It seemed kinda filmsy to me tho when I tried lifting it before. Thanks

PHEW!!!Maybe I'm going out on a limb here... but I would think removing a motor would be pretty basic for someone fabbing an awd system for the S chassis, no?

True aleast i would think so too. know anyone doing that?

by the way fab work and engine work are sorta diff no? is it possible to have skills in one and not the other? or can you only have both? im curious cuz i have a good friend that is pretty good at mechanics but cant fab at all! lol and I have an maintenance eletrician friend who is good at fab but not automotive.

plus i was doin it alone (had to) and im still new at this sorta stuff but gotta start somewhere. an extra set of eyes and hands wood have been great.

call me newbie, well i am, but i'm jus asking for help when i can't find it. sorry i do my best
