Hey whats up guys, was selling some s13 parts, and then came to offer on trade.

And question came up, pertaining to RB26 and oil pan issue.

I was told that Rb25 oil pan wouldnt fit onto rb26.
As far as I knew bolt holes had to be opened up, and possibly block had to be drilled and tapped to fit RB25 pan onto Rb26.

I picked up a Rb25 pan for my 26 build but it never crossed my mind to test fit it and see whats the deal with it.
Block is sitting with head on it with bunch of stuff on it, dont feel like pulling that som'b**** out and flippin it over

Came across this thread rb25-oilpan-modification-t280195.html
So baffle has to be cut? What pick up tube is used with this? Why does the side of the pan look funny not straight, is that for turbo return?
I thought that if you use rb25 pick up tube with 25 pan its a bolt on.

Would appreciate some input from someone that did this first hand or is knowledgeable on this.

Thanks guys
Matt. :mike

Thats me and have had no issues over the last 4-5 years. I just removed the windage stuff from the RB26 setup and used the windage stuff thats already on the RB25 pan. A small hole and sump/pickup area was added in and the pan flange was modified around where the pickup tube bolts to the block. I never seem to get a 100% bone dry seal around it but its not pissing out either. I've never seen an RB25 pickup so I'm not sure if thats a better option to use - but the cutout is definitely for the 26 pickup.

Sweet, couldnt be any better than to hear it from the "horses mouth".
So trim the baffles out on 25 pan-> scrap 26 baffles off of block-> widen bolt holes...IM not sure if pick up tubes are same or not-> but your using 26 tube right.
Seems straight forward deal.

I honestly don't remember widening any holes, but its been a long time and I've probably had 100+ other cars in my garage since then. Easiest thing to do is just test fit it up there. It would be nice if someone would confirm a 25 pickup is the same or different. I am using the 26 pickup

Update:
Got off my azz and pulled the bottom end out.
This is my 26 bottom end with baffle removed from crank girdle_> I never payed attention but looks like its all drilled and tapped for 2 different sets of bolt holes (Im not sure if this is common for all Rb26s, but thats how mine is and how I got it)
Image
Rb25 pan on my bottom end, all bolt hole line up block2pan, I dont have oil pump cover on but Im sure its same story there as well

I followed what you said and came up with this, where to trim my pan baffle, with Rb26 pick up tube as reference, seems it falls between 3rd and 4th bolt hole on pan.

I havent cut it yet, but I have one final question, I see my pick up tube was modified, looks like someone shaved one side off flat on mounting flange side facing towards pan, How tight of a fit is the tube against pan, looks like pan mating surface falls close/on tube flange. Anything special I got to do here.

Thanks for the help :poke:

Matt.
