From what I've read, this engine is unreliable for anything but serious racing. I'm trying to decide which engine to put into my 95 240. I'm planning on using this car as my daily driver, but also to race it legally in the area. Would it be a terrible idea to choose the RB26DETT as my engine?

Also, I've read that the engine is boggy at low rpms, and that to keep the power coming readily, you have to rev the crap out of the engine... comments/thoughts?

Thanks!

yeah that engine is horrible. there is no way i would ever think of putting an rb into a 240, especially a 26. that would just be stupid.

yeah, its not that its too expensive. its just that its a pile of crap. its like a honda motor. no torque, and you have to rev the crap out of it to go anywhere. plus it gets worse gas mileage than a honda motor. im buying another honda soon..

ha ha ha guys...

anyway, Kamahl where did you hear all those loads of bull**** about the rb26?

the main reason people dont do a rb26 is because to do the swap properly it will cost you $10,000

and $10,000 for a 250whp swap is kinda...well very ****ing retarded.

Lol, so in other words, if you have the funds, the RB26DETT will decimate all. Ya?

Nice F&TF quote.

The RB26 can be built to be a monster, but for a minum of $10k just for a 250WHP motor in stock form that takes an *** load of fabrication to stuff into an S chassis, you'd be better off doing an RB25DET or the lesser RB20DET and stick that extra money into that motor and still make a monster.

An RB in a 240 is nice, but if you have the money and want to go through all the headaches that people associate with the 26 going into that car...by all means, go for it. But research it first and make sure you really want to do that. Myself, I would love to put an 26 into a 240, but I myslelf would go KA-T or SR for ease of install.

Now, a 26 into my current car.....

BTW...happy 1 month anniversary on NICO.

Haha, I don't know what's worse, that fact that I said that, or the fact that you caught that... Hmmm...Anyways, I think I will take your advice and just use the SR20DET engine. The main reason I was hesitant to use that engine is because it's a 4 cylinder... Ya I know, stupid reason, blah blah. I'll have to research the RB25DET a bit more before I make my final decision though. Thanks for the input!

RB26DETT is a good motor and used in MANY street car in Japan, Europe and the US. It expensive to use it depending on the HP you want/need. under 500 use the RB25DET or the SR20DET...
