RB26 overheating :(

Discuss the RB20, RB25 and RB26 series engines.

k well the car came with no thermostat.... so i put in a nismo one in.

i flushed the block with water, didnt have time to do the rad, possibly could be a block in there.... but i dunno.

think it could be the head gasket?

did you bleed the system properly? sounds like trapped air to me.

How did you flush out the block? Did you pull the rear drain plug from the side?

Could be anything at with the information given... You could have a blocked radiator, a leaking hose, poor ducting, fans not working, poor to no coolant, waterpump issues, etc.

More info will bring people in to help you... plus there is a thread by title, "help my RB is overheating" or something that covers all the issues and solutions that could be going on.

As far as the head gasket, there are so many ways to check for this, common way is to check if your engine is mixing coolant and oil making it look like creamy chocolate milk (yoohoo).

just run the heater wide open ;} lol. But seriously i'd double check the operation of the tmst in hot water too. I just found out mine has been stuck closed for a while...(how i know running heater works)

i found out the problem.

there was a tiny block in the rad, and my clutch fan wasnt engaging.

time to remove the clutch fan and get an electric one

w00t 10 more hp for me
