hey everyone, i just got my car back together and noticed a problem after the dyno yesterday.

on the dyno it never dropped oil pressure, yet on a wot pull on the street the oil pressure drops from 95 psi to 60ish psi then i let off and the oil pressure returns.

im thinking this has somethign to do with the factory baffling not holding oil around the pick up?

any help.. thanks

you have more gravity/g-force pulling the oil into different parts of the pan ... maybe a little bit of oil starvation?

So after a WOT pull and seeing the pressure drop, you let off and it goes back up to normal.... What method of letting off do you use? Do you just let off the gas and leave the car in gear and coast down or are you pressing the clutch/throwing into neutral and letting off the gas? If all you do is let off the gas and the rpm stayed constant at where you lost pressure at with pressure returning by simply reducing load, then you could possibly have a cracked or slipping oil pump gear. If you are gradually losing pressure as the rpm rises past a certain point reguardless of load, then it could be a cavitating pump or starvation problem. There needs to be more details on everything during the problem to figure out what's really happening.

Didn't you just put it back together with a new pump... mybe the pickup got bent??? or like itz said you might have a slipping pump

i just had glenn tune my aem ems on the dyno earlier that day and i was watching the oil pressure while he was doing wot pulls and the oil pressure never dropped.

later that day after the dyno i was screwing around and during wot pulls on the street itd drop.

i let off the throttle to "let off" no pushing the clutch in, maintaining rpms, i figured it was due to the g forces pulling oil to the back of the pan, but its weird its doing this, the pick up is clean n non bent.

yes it has a new OEM pump, just the plain jane oem!

think i should switch to a tomei oil baffle for the pan? i have had the factory baffle in the pan the entire time ive owned this motor (over 6 years...) and have never had a "pick up" problem... the only thing that has been changed is the -10 an oil cooler/relocation kit, i replaced the -12an because it had barb fittings that required hose clamps over the an hose

yo sullivan are you sure your oil pressure gauge is working right? is it mechanical or electrical?

If you just have stock baffling then likely that is your problem esspecially if you have sticky tires.

One wayto check is to add a half quart or quart of oil and fool around on the street again. I wouldn't be surpised to see the problem go away.

Heard good things about this as a relatively cheap fix:

i dont care about the labor to install if its fixes the oiling problem, i can use a lift at work.

ill try the extra half to full qt n see if that works..
