RB26 HKS Camshafts on RB25

Discuss the RB20, RB25 and RB26 series engines.

Hey all, anybody knows if there is an issue running RB26 HKS 272 lift 8.7 on RB25 ??

It depends on what rb25 u have. If it is a neo it would have solid lifters like the 26, but if it is series 1 or 2 it will have hydraulic lifters and at high rpm the hydraulic lifters would have problems following the cams designed for solid lifters.

It is series 2 hydraulic lifters.

HKS has a kit to provide variable valve timing on the intake cam on rb26 that work with the HKS cams, so besides the lifter issue they should work on the 25

You need to change to solid lifters. You also need to know if you can use the original valve springs or if stronger valve springs for the cams

What about Tomei poncams? They have drop in replacement cams for series 2 Rb25det

Even HKS has drop in cams for the RB25. The only thing I don't like about them is that they don't have notches in the camshaft itself to enable the removal/replacement of head studs without pulling the cams, timing belt, crank pulley, etc. I think the Poncams come with the notches in the shafts.
