like the title says, i need new under bucket shims. i gauged mine yesterday and many of them are too thin. For those who got head work or reconditioned their existing head, PLEASE tell me where you got valve shims from.

i looked up the p/ns through FAST and it gives me the p/ns but they aren't usdm. i would much rather prefer to get them in the US (faster as opposed to 4+ weeks). will any machine shop carry them if i tell them the diameter of the shim and the thickness?

Thanks

I would think a good machine shop could make some for you if you have the dimensions.

Otherwise, as a last resort you could try a motorcycle shop since alot of bikes have the same type shims..

thanks, good suggestion. i'll check w/ my machine shop and see what they can do.in the meantime i'll mic the shim (diameter) and ask around!

i really don't want to open the head again and cut the valve stems

http://www.speedworksauto.com.au carries JUN shims.

I would think having them made would be more expensive. I wouldn't trust home made shims unless they're CNC'd out of proper metal.

You'd have to wait on them yes, but it'll be worth it. Exvitermini uses them on their monster.

thanks for the info. i don't think i'm gonna go w/ jun shims for 2 reasons. a) they're more expensive than oem and i'm not gonna be putting them to use against my head internals(stock springs, stock valves, etc.) b) if i decide to upgrade my head at some point, i'll probably end up throwing away those shims cuz i'd need new ones anyway.

i'll try to poke around a few machine shops first. if they dont have anything that works (good material + right size), i think i'll order oem for now and wait the 4 weeks.
