Guys

Went to the dyno today to troubleshoot a miss. I thought it was possibly bad E85, but after draining, and filling up with good stuff........my miss is still there.

We started out with base boost (18psi) and the car was not missing, however, as the night went on it seemed to get worse. On some pulls, the car ran clean, on some pulls, the car had a very apparent mis-fire.

At one point the car made 581rwhp@22psi, but we tried a back-to-back run and it mis-fired. I checked voltage at the coils and I have 12+V. Battery voltage seems good as well. I've checked grounds and even added a few more.

I need a CAS by thursday to test out, dyno, and go off to PINKS ALL OUT over the weekend. If the CAS fixes the issue, I'll have it back to you by next week.

I have no else what the issue would be except for an ignitor going down, or my CAS sending funky readings. I've got a spare ignitor in the garage

A/F was good and solid.....and I wasnt showing any knock from the det sensors.......

Please email me at [email protected], I'll pay the shipping and spot you some cash just for letting me borrow it, if you want.

Thanks guys!

Some additional notes....

Is it possible its the coils that are dying?

The car ran flawless in november of last year, to the tune of 10.40 @ 135 mph at the strip.....no misfire whatsoever. The car sat in a storage unit all winter long. I made 0 changes

I put in a fresh set of BKR7E's a month ago and gapped them to .020

Since then I've swapped in another set of plugs to rule those out, and the same issue

One off any RB should work (except for the plastic ones found on Neo's and R34 RB26's) if that helps get you one. I have several, but it's iffy as to whether or not it would get there by next thrusday or not. Try running it on the street, run it out through 3rd or 4th, make it miss, and turn the motor off at redline and coast. Pop out the plugs and see if it's just one black, or they all look the same. Just one = coil or something like that. All the same, maybe CAS or another problem.

It's not hard to "refurb" the coils if you want to just give that a shot, and they do go out ALL the time. Pull the little rubber boot off the bottom, twist the spring out careully as not to bend it (not that it really matters unless you really bugger it up). The stick a dremel or something down in there to clean out the crude until you see shiny metal. Might want to hit the top of the spring with the stone too. After you get it all back together, put several coats of "flexane" or something similar like silicone sealant or liquid electrical tape on the outside of the coil to help stop it from arching.

Well, I tried to find your pit this weekend and couldn't Some of the IHP guys said you were way on the other side of the track. Car pulled hard up top for sure, but sucks that you broke. I assume an axle? Pretty sweet seeing some fast Z32 action for sure!

Yep, I was the second to last entry (#419 out of 420) Got there about 5PM on friday evening, just in time to get the car through tech, and in the lanes to catch the last chance 1st test n tune. They put us on the other side (suprisingly there was alot of people over there)

Had a hell of a time getting the car to launch, guess I should run the bias-ply's from now on. I think on the first pass where I managed to run clean, sans the lanch, I went 11.1 @ 132 with a 1.9 60ft........had I hooked up I'd have been talking 10.3-10.4 range

I put new coils and a new CAS in the car. I'm assuming it was the CAS that was the issue but havent had time to get the car back out after breaking the output shaft, to see which one fixed my high boost miss...

I wish I could have shot the s*** with you for sure, ohh well. Were you on a DR then? Are you going to come to the shootout? Hopefully it wont take long to get all the bugs worked out and back on the road

I was on a DR. I have a brand new set of slicks on Z32 TT wheels sitting in the garage. Probably should have just used them. I have most the other bugs worked out. I'd say the car in current form with a good launch is good for solid mid 10's.....possibly 10.30-10.40 with a miracle launch.

I'd like to go to the shootout, however its july 5th, and I know I'll have family and partying to be doing on the 4th.....plus its a 3 hour drive, so hard to say.

This was the highlight of my weekend however

Wouldnt have it any other way man, I always appreciate a clean, good lookin car..........but I'd be 2X satisified if I saw the same car boiling the tires off in the burnout box, haha

Thanks a million. I still need to get back and figure out if it was the CAS or the coils. I'm 95% sure it was the CAS, just due to the condition the old one was in. Hoping to have that figured out this week sometime.
