Will an aftermarket rb26 single turbo exhaust manifold fit on the motor and in an S14 without major modifications? I know the stock twin turbos dont fit in there but I havent' been able to find any info on the single turbo manifolds.

actually the stock twins will fit, you just need a different down pipe for them to clear. http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com/products

So its not the exhaust manifolds, its the downpipes that dont fit? So a single turbo exhaust manifold would work find? Someone please confirm this.

Depends on the manifold and turbo.

It completely depends on how big the topmount manifold is. Unless it's bigger than most I've seen you should have no problem. You will need a custom downpipe

im not completely sure the answer to your ?, but i did notice that the strut tower from one end to the other is actually shorter in length in a r32 than the s14. so if u r talking about major mods to the chassis or anything like that i would think it is fine. also the main frame side members (not sure about technical name) is the same length at that point in both.

hope that might help

to use an RB single turbo manifold in an S14 chassis, particularly with a turbo like a 4088R, it is definately advised that you use a manifold which has the turbine flange moved *forwards*. otherwise the 40R compressor hosuing will not clear the s13/s14 shock tower

some pics:

Here is a pic of a guy who had the GReddy T88 kit, and swapped the turbo out for a GT4088R. the compressor outlet is running into the shock tower pretty badly

the solution to using that manifold seems to be to basically cut the compressor housing and weld on an angled extension (although it would be a better idea to do this more cleanly)

we just designed our manifold specifically for the S14 chassis. pictured here is our non-ac manifold. you can see how much farther forwards we've moved the turbo. its the only way to fit a 42R, and easily fits a 40R.

We are working on an AC compatible (and MAF compatible) 40R setup in the meantime

how much more stress is placed on the #1 and #2 runners having the turbo placed that far forward? (although while typing this i'm assuming that you braced the hell out of it)
