Ok so here is my deal.
Speed sensor works and reads in my cluster fine no issues using the Dakota Digital converter. However, Speed sensor was never wired to the ECU. This is what I am correcting.

Normally the Speed Sensor in an S13 is wired to a common ground and signal is sent to the Cluster Speedo then routed to the ECU.
Because I have an S13, RB26 and RB25 mesh I end up with much confusion.

The Big Question: Does the Speedo normally convert the signal from the Sensor to a signal the ECU can read when the signal travels through the cluster???

If NO, then I should be able to slice the origanal wire going to the converter and run a seperate wire to the ECU. BUT will the RB26 ECU be able to decode the RB25 Speed Sensor signal properly???

If YES, then can I take that converted signal from the Dakota Digital and wire it to the ECU and have it read correctly??? OR will I have to run a seperate wire from a seperate output on the Dakota Digital and adjust the signal until I see through Nistune that the Speed via the ECU is reading properly???

only experience i have had with speed sensors consist of cruise control installation. speed sensors just give a grounded output in pulses, some thru resistors some straight to ground. they vary as far as how many pulses per mile they give out. the ecu is looking for that particular single, be it thru a resistor or straight to ground. if you can lay your hands on an rb 26 speed sensor and run a few tests for output and see if that matches the one from the rb25 then you should be able to share the data with the 26 ecu. you may also want to check with after market cruise control people such as rostra or audivox and see if the may have the 33 and 34 listed in their installation manuals, which will probably be in japanese, if you can even find it.

I just hooked up my VSS to my aem series 2. The oem cluster does convert the signal. With the aem you change all the settings you need. I have a speedhut speedo and i just tap into the wire going to the ecu but i still havent calibrated it yet, but it just counts the pulses per mile anyway. I doubt that helps you much.
