Hey I did some searching but could not find any definite answer.

Does anyone know why on the aftermarket downpipes, the flexpipe is between the front turbo (closest to the pulleys) and where the two collect into one?

Im doing a rb26 swap in a 1990 300zx, and I dont believe Ill have clearance for the flexpipe in that location. Not spending hundreds of dollars to find one they dont clear when I can just make my own.

Ive been really flustered by this lately and cant seem to understand why they would put it there and not after where the two turbo downpipes collect....

The longer the pipe, the further it will expand when heated up because it expands fractions of an inch per inch of pipe length. When the runners are not equal length and are fixed at both ends, there will be stress created by the longer runner wanting to expand more. This will eventually end up fatiguing and cracking at the collector flange. Hence, they put a flex pipe in the longer one to absorb the expansion.
