RB26 Different motor colors???

Just a stupid question, but I have noticed that some RB26 motors are different colors than others. Is there are meaning behind this? The timing cover is also sometimes the same color as the motor, and other times it's different. For example, my R34 has a gold colored motor and a red timing cover. Thanks for you assistance in advance...Just curious.

I think it's actually very hard to tell unless you are the first owner or know that the motor was never touched.

Black cam covers, center cover and front cover= R32/R33 Dark red cam covers, center cover and front cover with a black CAS= R34 Gold cam covers, center cover and front cover = R34 Nur SpecSilver cam covers, center cover and front cover = R34 Z-Tune

Silver/steel CAS= R32/R33Black plastic CAS = R34

Your best bet is to have Ross look at the block right under the front turbo (if I remember correctly) it will have a 05U or a 24U stamp

05U= standard block24U= N1 blockKKK= Nismo GT block

sometime people paint their R32/R33 covers to match the R34 engine or Nur. One way you can tell is to look at the Cam Pulley Covers and look at the raised lettering, "RB26".

R32/R33 have all the characters close "RB26"

R34's and Nur's have a space between, "RB 26"
