Is the trans a pull or push type. If it its a pull, I think only rb26 clutches will work. If its push or you convert it to push then, rb25's and na z32's will work

if that rb26 is going into a 240sx your going to need an rb25det 5 speed trans , rb25 flywheel, rb25 starter, and a n/a z32 clutch or rb25 clutch there both the same. i just got the spec stage 3+ for a n/a z32. OH when you start to pull that rb26 awd transmission off your going to have to remove one of those rubber pieces on the bell housing and theres a pin on the shift fork your going to have to remove if the throw out bearing is stuck to get that transmission off cause mine was stuck and that what i had to do.

I am moding the rb26 trans by removing the transfer case and welding a plate over it. SO thats why i need a rb26 clutch

Unless it is a pull type transmission (late R33 or R34) RB is RB man. Over here, when you buy OS Gikens or what have you, they are marked as 20/25/26. I know the 26 is bigger in diameter but many people just slap a GTR clutch onto RB20's as a basic upgrade instead of going all out. I am pretty sure you will have no problems if it will fit a 25 it will fit a 26. Again this is just off of the top of my head but I am sure you will be fine as long as you do not stick a pull type clutch onto a push type transmission or vise versa.

Look on ebay or watch clutches on fourms fs. If its a push type clutch a rb20 flywheel and 90-96 z32 clutch will work. I have a rb20 with a os giken twin going in it from a rb26. I got my os giken twin for 360 and it still had 3.7 left on the disks. But if you have never pulled the trans off your rb26 how do you even know the clutch needs replacing. You just want to replace it with a stock type clutch anyhow.

I thought that the Early RB26 R32/R33 was a regular PUSH type clutch. And the R34 26/25's were PULL Type clutches????

It may be able to be put in a 20/25 but the setup would have to be changed to a PULL setup.

exactly.. this guy just needs to find out what model RB he has and even then should check which way the slave is facing to find out if its push or pull.

By the way I am using an rb26 push type twin plate in my rb25

Can anyone confirm that you really need a rb25 starter in order to install a rb26 into a 240sx?

Yes, you do.Check the "RB Replacement parts" Thread.I don't belive there is any other known starter.Maybe a L series would work.

I have never seen an R33 Pull Type, however, when I went to buy a clutch a while back and was going through the catalogue I found an R33 Pull Type Clutch for the later models. SO deductive reasoning tells me there are some out there somehwhere.

Are the RB25 and RB26 starters not the same?

Most of the upgraded twin disk clutches use the same part number for the ECR33 and the BNR32, meaning that they should technically be able to use the same starter.

I can confirm 100% that the R32 RB26 starter will work with rb25 transmission. I am also pretty sure all other RB26 starters from 33 and 34 will work

you should be able to tell if it is a push or pull by the cylinder on the outside of the bellhousing. if it is like this one it is a push

that's if it set up like the rb25 transmission. if it's the other way then it would be pull type. this is if it is like a rb25

wow that freakin sucks. Just as I got the information that you DO need a rb25 starter to install the rb26, I went and freaking bought one on ebay for 75 bucks! Now I read that you can use the rb26 one....thats what I was thinking all along. Oh well, I guess I have a spare just in case....
