So im looking to a buy a gts skyline and i was curious about something. Will an rb26 swap straight into a gts skyline with no modification. Would it be smart? The reason i ask is because i want to get about 400 rwhp or a little more out of it. Would it be as efficient and cheap to just use the rb20/25 that would come in it and modify that? Or swap in the rb26? Also is it possible to swap over the awd system into the gts skyline? is it practical?

You need to cut the diff off the RB26 oil pan or swap in an RB20 or RB25 pan. The RB20 transmission while not bad doesn't have the nuggets to last behind an RB26 driven in anger very long. The RB25DET transmission will be up to the task.

The Rb20 can put that kind of power down but it is going to be really running on the ragged edge. The 25 would have to work a lot less to make that power, 26 yet even less stress. Smart? IMO starting with the bigger motors would be smart but i wouldn't say trying with the 20 would be dumb, just harder.

Anything is possible with enough money. Converting a RWD Skyline to 4WD is possible but it is not something one should undertake in their garage with with 110 peice toolset. So "yes" and "no"

great. thanks for the answers. the 4wd system is just idiot proof for bad drivers although its imo funner to drive 4wd than rwd. And can rb25 trannys be "built" to handle higher power? One last thing. Will and rb26 make more power with less money Including the purchase of the engine and the swap vs just keeping the stock 25 in and building that up?

It would bolt up but RB20s break RB20 transmissions, a 26 would kill it in short order.
