Looking for options for the 26. I've got the stock 26 oil pan that I would like to use....there is just the matter of the front diff. I've thought about taking a plasma cutter to it and just welding a plate in place of the front diff. I like the idea of using the 26 pan because is aluminum (vs steel for the 25 pan) and I don't have to cut any baffles out to make the pick up fit. Any suggestions? Would it just be easier to use the 25 pan?

not sure about the 20 pan.....got one in the garage and unless it gets about 2-3 inches wider, there's no way its going to fit.

I would be way easier to use a Rb25 pan. and its only about $150 new

The only reason that i could think of using the rb26 pan is because its more rigid than a sheet metal rb25 pan, making the bottom end more rigid.

but all in all, its probably not worth playing around with that 26 pan

good luck

Yeah, I just don't like the idea of cutting the baffles out of the 25 pan. I guess that might be the easiest route.....using the 25 pan.

I am currently using the rb26 oil pan on an rb25. I had to cut off the differential and the shafts. Smothed down the bottom of the pan and used 1in rubber motor mounts to keep the pan off the cross member. It wasn't very hard. Took a few hours of cutting off the differential but it's done and holds and extra quart of oil.

What he said use the 26 pan if you have it. You just have to shave the diff off and grind some of the webbing off the bottom of the pan and it should fit no problem. The diff has a tube that goes all the way through the pan for the shaft. There is no need to weld this shut as its closed off from all the oil any how. I did all that and had it in for 10 miles no problems. Now the engines getting rebuilt and in going dry sump so im making a custom pan any how lol. I used a few washers to shim my sway bar down and foward an no issues.

Yeah Man, use the RB26 Pan. It took two days to do mine minus me being an anal retentive prick and polishing the damn thing since I shaved the webbing down. Even took the money I would have spent on the RB25 pan and bought some Tomei Pan Baffles.

im really surprised that no one has made an aftermarket aluminum pan for the 26 swap. or for any rb for that matter. would be nice to have a deep sump pan or just an extra capacity pan. id buy one for sure. if i wasnt lazy id make one, but aluminum is really hart to weld.

My friend, you are a saint and I will dance at your wedding! I dont suppose you have any inside shots of the pan? And it looks like there are more anal people out there besides myself! That pan is sex.

Yeah, everything is just fine for me. The tomei pan baffle only requires you to widen the oil return holes for flow from the rear of the pan to the front.

thanks for the pics. You think the tomei baffles are worth it? I've debated using them. I assume you swapped your 26 into a S13,S14...?

Nah, the engine was completed right as I was leaving for Iraq this summer. When I return, I will take delivery of an S15 type R to put it in. I will be putting up project updates as I finish the various stages of the project. I will be back to work on it in Feb.
