I'm looking for a rb26dett. I'm doing a swap into a 72 240z, so I need everything from engine, turbos, transmission, ecu ect. Most of the JDM type sites I'm finding seem to have real crappy reviews. does anyone know of a trust worthy source? There is a shop near by me that said they could get me a JDM for around four grand with all the fixins. if i were to buy one from Raw Brokerage would be around $5500 for one plus shipping. Being really new to these engines, what should I look out for? Is that a usual price? Are there better priced ones out there? I was going to go with a VG30dett but decided the straight six would be a better choice. Any input would be grand. Thanks.

Ricky at rawbrokerage will treat you right. Maybe you should call and see if he has any wiggle room on price. He has a great reputation and he will stand behind his products. Most of the other JDM places will tell you to pound sand if you have a problem or end up with something damaged in transit.

Your goin to pay quite a bit for a 26, but also consider the mileage, condition of the engine/turbos, if it comes with a 25 transmission or if its from an r32 or r34 <<<<< this alone can very on the price

What other engine would you consider that would be a better price but is also turbo? I gotta get my girlfriends panties wet :naughty: any input would be grand.

Plus most sites I look at don't show mileage. They just give a huge range of what it could be. I have heard stories of JDM dealers totally screwing people over.

With either engine you're going to end up spending a lot of money to do a swap the "right" way without short-cutting. If you really want to do this swap, you've got a lot of research to do. Spend a lot of time looking at the threads of folks who have been doing the Z car RB swaps. Luckily (and somewhat unluckily some might say) people like wiring specialties make premade harnesses so any joe out there can swap an RB into just about anything.

As for your questions in the main post, there's a million things you should look out for, and yes there might be better priced ones out there, but you have to research and look around. Unless you buy a front clip, you probably won't find an engine that has its actual mileage listed. That being said, finding a trustworthy source is difficult for sure. That's why I got mine from Rawbrokerage. I don't mean to say that's the only trustworthy place to find one but since you're probably not going to know the mileage, knowing the engine will be handled well and chosen well is priceless.

But my final word is research, research, research. That's why these forums exist, to share knowledge. If you really want to do this swap you'll find the answers.

Best regards and good luck!
