rb25det working with hud

has anyone got there hud working with the rb25 motor i was wondering because if not i need to get a regular cluster

I dont have any personal experiance with it, but since no one else has replied yet, I figgured I would throw my 2 cents in.

It should be fairly straight forward to get it to work. Be sure to use the KA lower harness. Thats what I did and my speedometer on my car just worked. However, when looking through the KA FSM for info on those little wires hanging down from behind where the glove box goes, I found there is another wire there for speedo. I think it was described as being for the digital readout. I don't have the book in front of me so I can't tell you what page or anything. If it doesn't work right away with using the lower harness, you should be able to just run some wire from that digital speedo wire over to your cluster.

The tach is much more interesting of a problem. I'm just not revving above "8k" on the ka tach until I can get it shipped off to lsauto to be corrected or I find a cefiro tach, whichever comes first.

Was doing some electrical research.

Seem you may need to wire the yellow wire with green stripe and the red wire from the same place where all the consult crap hangs down from behind the glove box.

Funny thing is, the diagram makes it look like these are required for any KA speedometer, but I dont have mine wired yet and my analog ka speedo works fine.

I also have HUD, Mines an 89, Now my tach aint gonna work, Has anyone took the tach out of the skyline cluster and made it fit in the 240sx cluster and rewired ect. I wonder if the tachs are the same diamater? I havnt bought my clip yet so was just curious.

you hud will work just fine if you wired in your speed-o at the transmission. the signal goes from the vss to the lower harness to main harness(not engine harness) to the SMJ then to the cluster. form there the signal gets set to the ecu via the dash interface connector. if you have a rb25 trans then your speed will be off. you will need to change the gear on the VSS to get it acurate again. you have to change the gear because the vss is longer then the KA VSS. if you have a rb20 trans just replace the rb20 VSS with your old KA VSS and you Wa La working speed-o.

now for your tach to work just get the lsauto.com tach.

better yet which would be cheaper/simpler these (if they work) or the lsauto tach and changing the gears of the vss?
