I recently got a new (to me) RB25DET S2 and VG30DETT 5-speed transmission (with a push type AWD RB26 bellhousing) to put into my 95 240SX. The install seemed to go fine, I did the wiring, got a driveshaft made, and the engine starts and runs fine and everything else worked, but the clutch would not disengage. I replaced the slave and bled the system with no result and decided to pull the motor and trans to replace the clutch assembly, throwout bearing, and pilot busing, and to see what was really going on in there.
To my surprise, when I pulled the trans off the motor, I found a light dusting of metal shavings that appears to have come from the clutch rubbing on the end of the sleeve of the front cover of the transmission.
I almost want to shorten that sleeve on the front cover to give the clutch disc more throw without interfering, but I'm just at a loss here as to whether that would fix it or not. Has anyone ever run into something like this?
(I have pictures but I'm trying to figure out how to attach them....)
Thanks!
