I found a guy on craigslist that says he can rebuild, clean and change my ceramic blades to steel blades for 450 bucks. Does this sound about right? or am i about to get scammed??

I would expect someone with that ability to advertise somewhere other than craigslist. Turbonetics said "no can do" to my buddies RB25 turbo, what does the phantom turbo rebuilder have that they don't? Your initial uneasiness is probably well-placed.

that's way too much! don't do it. put in some more $ and get a brand new T3 turbo or something similar that can put out more HP that's actually more adequate to the rb25 potential. look at this http://www.rogueusa.com/category-s/196.htm

Yeah bro $450 is alot of money. It can be done.I know someone that does stuff like that. But what wheels is he giving you????????You can throw any wheels in there, but are they going to work as they should.?????But since you have a RB25, just spend the extra cash and buy a brand new turbo. With a bigger turbo, you'll have much cooler intake temps and more volume, so you don't have to run such high amounts of boost.

I have an rb20....i want to make about 250-270 whp. I think a rb25 turbo that can safely be pushed to 14-15 psi should get me there. I would go with an after market turbo, but i want one thats internally wastgated, will bolt up to the factory manifold and doesnt cost more than 1,000 bucks. Any ideas?? Or anybody know a reputable Re-builder?

270WHP thats ummm.... 310.5 Crank HPDunno if a RB25 turbo could do that??? I've got a Aussie mag that did a S13/RB20 with a RB25 Turbo @ 14psi they got 214 WHP

You should try a Z31 turbo, there's a certain year that you need I believe, should be (not sure) a straight up swap Its a Straight T3 but I don't believe its a Ball bearing unit though. But that should make your power though.

But if your gonna spend like 5-600 you could buy a T3/To4B standard bearing which will make that power plus more.If you get a smaller A/r like .64 should get a pretty decent spool time, plus wont have to run CRAZY high boost pressure.

Look up Carl H,He put down like 400whp in a totally stock bottom end RB20 with cams and a GT30R turbo (more than 1G, like 1200)And he chips his own ECU"s talk to him about a tune, cheap way to go.

PS your 14 looks sweet!!!

is it that big a deal to go BB over standard bearing(journal)??

My bro just traded in his s2k for a new Mazda speed 3 turbo. He thinks its the sh$#, Its probably faster than my rb20, but soon i will upgrading, i just wanna make the right decision.

Used RB25 turbo will buy you some time to save for something bigger... depends on how much of a problem it would be to run without a converter in your area as to how much power you can make with your setup.

We put down low 200's to the wheels on my old motor we put in my buddy's S14.5 (Hybridone is his SN)... FMIC/pod filter/3" JIC no converter/S-AFC/stock turbo

It was on a Mustang Dyno, but still...

I'll let you know what a RB25 turbo can do soon... my monstor 166rwhp should be up'ed a bit with the new HG and seals (I hope). Gaskets are on the way, but time is the problem now...

I'm expecting at least similar numbers to his (dynojet vs mustang) with my setup as we put my first FMIC, which is the same as the one I have now, on his car... and I'll have a PFC, RB25 turbo and 270 cams w/gears on top of what he had... we'll see... the leaking HG didn't help my first pull to much...

So basically... don't waste your money on a rebuild or a T-anything
