Hi guys, I just purchased an RB25DET engine from a local wreckyard. The engine was imported from Japan, not available in Europe.I received the engine and wiring loom but no further information with it, also no ECU with it.I was thinking about buying a PowerFC with it but I need to know which version engine I have.I read through a lot of threads on this forum and it appears the engine is a series 2.

Any advice on which Power FC version to use?

If more detailed images are needed please let me know.

Thanks!

i was under the impression that the PFC is universal between S1 and S2.

I think people are confusing the NEO rb25 and the R33 rb25's or the Pro and normal PFC's.http://www.apexera.co.jp/carli....html

I have been looking at some Japanese docs about the Skyline's and it says the R33 RD25DEt was rated 245 HP, the R34 RB25det 280 HP and then there is a model using a NEO engine also rated at 280 hp.

Is there anything that shows this engine being an R33 or R34?Or is it that the R33 used the S1 engine and the R34 the S2?

It was 250PS for the R33 and 280PS for the R34.The R34 had an extra engine cover on the top which said NEO turbo. It also has an extra device for Traction control on the intake pipe.Like the R33 Series 2 engine it has the ignitors built into each ignition coil. The R33 Series 1 had a seperate ignitor pack and a old style nissan TPS which has a connector and a harness as opposed to the dual connectors on the TPS like the Series 2.

Ah, OK, thanks!

So..

The engine is a series 2 because it doesn't use the ignition amp on the rear.As for the TPS, I assume Throttle position sensor?, I can only see one connector, not a separate cable coming out like the CA18DET TPS.The clutch is a push type.

This would bring it down to R33?

You need images of the ECU connector?

If I want to go PowerFC which type do I need? And is the D-jetro a wise choice or does it need to many changes?

Sory for the many questions. I try to read as much as possible on this forum but there is a lot of information to swallow..

One of the connectors is broken you can see the little pins bent. It is most def a r33 S2 rb25det. Go to my site under specs and tech and you will find pinouts for the r33 and r34 ecu's.There is no D-jetro RB25 PFC. Only regular and pro spec. Pro just has the addition of a ignition cut rev limiter and i believe two step launch control.

Just wanted to add that but you have already noticed.

Again thanks very much!

which clutch would that be?because a friend of mine sold me his os giken twin clutch from a rb20det he said the clutch is the same with rb25. is this true? havent check the clutch yet since my motor is not yet running because i too dont have a series2 ECU.
