hi my name is justin i have an s13 with a s2 rb25det, last night while i was driving about 40mph the timing belt tensioner bolt broke and the belt came off  . i am wondering where i can buy a new rb from now (i dont trust ebay) as most of the research ive done has lead me to the conclusion that my head is effed, bent valves possibley damaged pistons etc. im not trying shell out as much to get a head rebuilt as it will cost to buy a new engine. im not a mechanic and dont have access to the stuff id need to pull the head and repair it myself. any help appreciated!!!

That sucks man!

Seems like a good time to buy some tools and learn. If you didn't booger anything up too bad its repairable.

itll be cheaper to replace it

broken valve means damaged pistons 99% of the time.

Check Raw Brokerage. If I recall, he has a Series 2 RB25 long block for like 700 or 800... Take a look.

i checked raw brokerage before posting. i couldnt find any actual engines or long blocks thats why i asked, i checked the sponsors and couldnt find anything and i dont trust ebay. i have a legacy gt that was my daily and two weeks ago that blew a head gasket, thats why i had the 240 out last night i try not to drive all over in it anymore but now im car-less its sucks big time i have a mortgage to pay too life is tough. im going to harbor freight and getting a hoist and stand tomorrow, or my buddy john actually knows a dude with a hoist for sale and i have some racing seats so i may try to work out some kind of trade. im trying to pull the subaru's engine tear it down rebuild it and by then i should have enough coin saved to buy a new rb. i can get a full gasket kit for the legacy for like 200 bucks and i can do that work myself im just not tryin to rebuild a head, my dad hasnt done anything like that in a very long time i just had a custom fresh turbo built for the rb new exhaust gasket and vc gaskets ive had it for four or five years its been through two s-13 chassis's ('S?) and i actually installed new tensioners that broke and the timing belt with all oem nissan parts from japan its ran great for 2 and a half years until last night when the bolt that holds the tensioner on broke off inside the block and it jumped time. ive got to much of my life invested in it to scrap it. its got a tuned pfc, greddy profec b-spec 2, k-sport coilovers, 18 inch gunmetal meshies that match the two tone its actually super clean.its got a silvia aero front bumper, gtr style grill, bricks, smoked blinkers, fmic, 3 inch turbo back circuit sports exhaust, ive actually got another silvia and stock 240 pignose front end in my garage. its like a museum ive got so many nissan parts, ive been a nico member for a long time i just hadnt logged in and i have a new email address and computer you may be able to find pictures under my old nico name jrb92se. i tried to go completly oem with the body work and engine with the excepiton of the stainless turbo oil and water lines, fmic exhaust and turbo because the turbo went bad and it had a broken exhaust mani stud so i did the valve cover, and exhaust gasket when i had the turbo and manifold off, its an 89, two tone sea foam green and gun metal grey. if you cant tell i love it. im not into drifting or racing its just my hobby i guess.

Honestly, that's my thought on my S13, too. I work on it, not because it could be powerful or a good drifter, but for the sake of building a car that makes me happy. And I know what your talking about with the nissan museum thing... There's all sorts of odd nissan stuff at my house. Haha.

I think your best bet is to fix the Legacy and wait on the S13. Not that I know much about Subarus, but you could just replace the headgasket and call it good though I understand while your in there you might as well replace all the gaskets. When you do eventually enter the market to replace the RB25, Raw Brokerage does have them in stock heres the link:

Well good luck man! hope everything works out...
