Post

Greetings to everyone.

My name is Richard from Cape Town, South Africa.
I own a S13 200SX fitted with a RB25DET engine and R33 gearbox.

The motor is fairly stock, with the exception of forged wiseco pistons and a larger T3/T4 hybrid turbo on a top mount stainless exhaust manifold.
I am running the motor on a local after market ecu with a 60-2 pick up.
All els, injector's, plenum, cams, crank, connecting rods and clutch are original stock RB25.
The motor is currently running 0.4bar boost and on 95unleaded fuel.
She is scheduled for a proper tuning next week.

I need some advice on the following:

1) What is the correct oil pressure for a RB25DET on idle when on operating tempreture?
My car is just under 1 BAR at 800-900rpm.

2) Were is the correct place to fit a oil pressure gauge sender unit to the motor?
Mine is fitted to the remote oil filter housing.

3) What is the correct oil grade to use in the RB25 motor, mineral or synthetic?
I am running Shell Helix mineral oil.

4) What is the correct air/fuel reading I should be getting on my wide band monitor, for off boost cruising, idling and for under boost?
At the moment the monitor displays 10-10.3 for idle, 13.4-15.1 for off boost cruising and 12.3-12.6 for under boost.

4) On my current setup, what will be maximum boost that can be achieved, keeping reliability in mind?

Thank you for your time

Regards

Richard Abbott

You are way too rich at idle. Too lean under boost. You should be seeing 14.xx ish at idle and 11.7 is where I tune under boost. What is your octane rating over there?
