rb25det s2 ECT Sensor

Okay... so my rb25 series 2 ecu is throwing a code 13 and nothing else, which is engine coolant temperature sensor. I've replaced it twice now and still no dice. I'm thinking the wiring is somehow bad, so my question is to anyone who may know: How can I hard wire the ECT sensor directly to the ecu?

1. Does it matter which wire is ground and which is signal?2. Which pin on the ecu does the signal go to? (I only see Engine Temp Sensor Pin 28)
