ive been watching the forums for a while and finaly gave in and bought my rb25det motor set i had a few questions on motor mounts and downpipes start buying the rest of my swap. im planning on buying the zerolift motor mounts was wondering if some of you that are using them like them? hows the fitment? are there any clearance problems with them that i should be aware of? and with those mounts what kind of down pipe do you put on the motor. do you use a r33 down pipe? will a r33 elbo and down pipe clear the steering linkage or is it possable to a sr20 down pipe so that the exhaust lines up to factory cat back?or would i still need a costom test pipe?any help on a good setup would be great thanks

what i did was rbturbo outlet, got a sr20 DP, cut and rotated and then just welded it right to the cast elbow, i know another memeber who did that as well, worked out fine for the both of us, and you can find used sr downpipes for less than 100.

we have the zerolift mounts and hell we love them. Its on a rb25det and it fits perfect had no problems getting it in at all. The hood shuts fine and it started right up. But with the zero lift mounts you do utilize the stock ka motor mounts. If you have any other questions feel free to ask

ok so the mounts are a good choice.and im assuming the matching drive shaft will work perfect with them. but im still having trouble with what down pipe to use/ buy . im looking to get a down pipe and turbo elbow setup. can any one tell me how much the steering shaft is in the way if its not very much i have no problem just notching the down pipe or even grinding the steering shaft down. instead of using a sr20 down pipe and a cast iorn elbo would it bepossable to use a sr20 elbow and down pipe together (is the turbo set up and position the same as a sr20? any pictures would be much appreciated if possable of the down pipe/steering shaft clearancethanks

I'm feeling generous...

As others have stated, use an SR downpipe. works fine.

Research, and not buying cheap stuff, going all out, and buying smart (looking and waiting for good deals) will allow you to get a RB in a s13 for WELL UNDER 7k

I plan on having my S13 installed and running for around 4k. I got a disassembled engine, with FMIC, and a few other things for a hair over a thousand bucks, and i plan on putting in another 500-750 in cooling, and then about 1k into the necessary fab work, and then what is left for a nice turbo (gt2871) and some miscellaneous shiz. Forget what other people say about not being able to swap a stock RB in for less than 5 grand, cause they are plain wrong. do a lot of work yourself, and shop smart, and I KNOW you could get an RB in for almost 3k
