I was reading on the NZ and Aussie forums, and many people are saying how on their rb25 they are reving up to an ridiclous 8k on stock head components, now i have read the arguement on both sides, and decided to ask here what people are revving up to, i believe the stock limit was 6900, thats why i fell revving to 8k is a little overboard...

I'm am pretty (99%) sure the rev limitter is set to 8,000 on stock rb's, redline starts at 7,500. and with serious internal work they hit 10,000+.

why raise it on a stock engine? nissan put the rev limit there for a reason, and their engineers are smarter than most of us. unless you have the cams, valvetrain and power needed for more RPM you are only wasting your money and endangering your engine.

he wants to raise it because he has a bigger turbo I wouldnt go past 7500 either, and i would get a Soft touch revl limiter and a FCD

Still, the engine still runs out of steam at around 6800.

ok, i do know that if i stop gaining power at lets say 6800 no point in even raising rev limit, the dyno will tell muahah

the stock rev limiter IS at 7000-7100 depending on what gauge you use.

that is for sure. ive spent plenty of time bouncing off that

Take it to a dyno, look at the graph, and judge for yourself.

Report back the info to everyone, so this topic never comes up again.

Bouncing off the rev limiter isn't good for your engine.

I have mine set at 7200 on my PFC. It keeps my RPM up in each gear so I don't fall out of boost. Also I can stay in 4th throught the 1/4. But I am close to redline at that point (6800)

That is NOT true...IT depends on your set up, your powerband.....A big turbo with later spool is and a flat powerband is going to make power throught the higher rpms..

With a stock turbo it runs out of steam at hight rpms that is correct but your statement is to generalized....
