i was just wondering where i could get a replacement stock oil cooler for my rb25det, the shop whom has my motor told me i have to replace the stock oil cooler , can i bypass it or replace it, also i was told during my rebuild of the head i have a bad lifter where can i order a new one, or does someone know someone with a rb25det series 2 head and is parting it out, or is there is a xreference for the lifter with lets say vg30 or ka or something of that nature...

You have an RB25, right? I don't know why you would need to replace the stock oil cooler because there isn't one. Are they talking about the water-cooled oil cooler where the filter is?

darius....an oil cooler is an oil cooler, doesn't matter if its air or water cooled. the rb25 has a stock oil cooler....

whats wrong with it that they want you to replace it?

Yeah I believe that's what he was talking about.

I don't know about the Z32 lifters working in the RB25 but I belive they work for the Z32.I know alot of the Z32 and RB20 head parts are interchangeable.

I've only seen a picture of this oil cooler thingie once. Can it just be taken off??Or does it have fittings to connect to a regular universal air to oil cooler??

OK just talked to him.He said that the machine shop said that when you rebuild the motor there is a Diaphragm in there that you should change when you rebuild.

From what he just told me I don't think that it's broken (might be though).

Does anyone have the FAST program working???

He needs the part number for the Diaphragm and the lifter. Maybe it'll crossover to a US part.

He may just buy a whole other one too. Dunno.

I know it has an oil cooler, that's why I asked...

I was just surprised that they said it needed replacement because there are no moving parts in it.

Basically, it is a very small heat exchanger. The coolant comes in and passes through a separate passage around the oil passage as the oil enters/exits the filter. The coolant picks up some of the heat. It would be tough to get rid of it completely because the housing has a weird gasketed connection to the block. You could disconnect the coolant lines and bypass the stock cooler, but it was there for a reason.

Hey StricNyne, do you want to find the interchangeable parts thread and add the hydraulic lifter to it if it is not already there? For some reason that part number looks familiar so it might already be in there.

what is wrong with the std oil cooler, i still dont get why it needs to be replaced. if anything remove it and slap a sandwich plate with thermostat in its place.there should be a center bolt thru the cooler, just remove that bolt and remove the cooler and done deal.

Do you really think StricNyne knows what he is doing? All day long, he just makes posts about his dreams. It was only last week that he posted up how his dreams were shattered due to budget issues. The next day, he starts posting about gas coolers, solid lifter conversions, etc. I guess you can't stop dreamers from dreaming (even when they are broke as ****).

i dont know what i am doign, i never rebuilt a motor thats why i sent it to a capable shop, yes i coulda picked up a book and read and attempted it my self, but i rather have peace of mind and get it done professionally and know its done right. well i guess i am a dreamer..... i think all goals start out as dreams but for me they usually happen via my hardwork, and dedication so i guess that makes me a successful dreamer in the least...you on the other hand are a loser, you dream of having a rb, you dream your cool, and dreamed up a name to harass and insult people but in reality your just moron... i think the dream is over.....
