Doesn't tell me anything. 1) I can use RB26 rods, cams, cam gears, crank, pistons, head, oil pump, water pump, ecus (aem), clutch, coils, block, etc etc. Should I even bother to go on?What your point? We already have high powered (500+rwhp) RB25's in 240's in the US. There are zero big horse power RB26's on this board. We know the RB26 is the best engine hands down. The poster wants to know HP/Dollar AT 500RWHP is a built RB25 better than an RB26. And the answer is WE DON't KNOW because there are too few 500 rwhp RB25's out there and there are ZERO rb26's out there to make a valid decision.

basically what you are doing is turning the motor into a 26.

stock for stock, simple bolt ons, the 26 will fair you better, simply because of the head(assuming no neo) and the extra stroke. if you're going to be building both, basically all bets are off because there are parts available that you can use for both the 25 and the 26 to negate their differences.

the main question to the original poster is... will you be comfortable running 500whp on a 10 year old motor coming from japan used? if not, your best bet is to probably save the difference between the 25 and 26 cost, and build a 25.

Yes which negates the "potential" advantage the RB26 has, but dramatically increases costs. What i'd like to see is and RB26 put down somepower... SillyRB has an RB25 that's near 500rwhp. It would be good to do a price run down on him and compare it to an RB26 putting up similar power.

yup, i would like to see that too, a price comparo vs dyno maps or something.

all i'm saying is when you go all out and build something, all you are left with is the bare block, which IMO have the same strength.

A buddy of mine spent his $15,000.00 re-enlistment bonus on a 180SX with a 600ish HP RB26. He did pretty good with it, it never would hook up well, it really needed drag slicks to be effective. He got smoked by another freind of mine in his nastyfast FC RX7. He was also over 500HP but he;A. was a better driver.andB. had his car set up to contain the power.

If all you want is 500HP get the 25 and use the money saved to get the parts to overhaual it and replace the pistons. If your goal may increase to over 500HP get the 26 now so you will be ready to step up in the future.
