Yeah, well as of right now the plans are on hold, but SR20 is out of the question, that's for sure. So it's either 25 or 26. I got into a little fender bender on friday on my way to work with some lady driving a friggen buick venture. My left fender is all f'ed up. Well, I'm gonna post some pics of my car the way it looks right now, I cleaned it up a lil get some opinions and go from there. I have to pay off all my bills first, then save up a little and then get my skyline engine swap. Thanks for the help guyz

It doesnt take that much custom work for an RB25 swap, I think you should research the rb swaps a bit more before saying that it takes a lot of custom work. You can put an RB25 in using stock engine mounts and transmission mounts if you dont mind cutting a small chunk out of the skeleton support under your hood. Then you just need to have your driveshaft modified or have a custom one made up (not that friggen hard) and do the wiring (there's a nice guide in the RB section). It's not as hard as it's been made out to be. Also, as I said before...The SR20DET can take 4-500hp, but not for long...and that's assuming that its a perfect motor with damn near perfect tuning (in other words, thats why a lot of shops have been able to do it). If you had done your research well, you would realize that it's an aluminum block engine and that to reliably make that much horsepower on a 2.0 aluminum block engine you should definitely sleeve it. *hint: they use ductile IRON as the sleeves...the RB blocks are allready MADE of iron*. I dont know why everybody is so ready to jump on the SR bandwagon, it's a good engine, but its not the best thing in the world, there are a lot of good engines out there, dont just limit yourself to one particular one, research ALL of them and decide which one fits your goals the best.

well fyi, there's an rb26 for 2600 or 2800 without transmission on ebay. as for the swap thing, my friend has an rb in his 240 but we are all down south. ur best bet would be to look around the country for the best shop with the lowest price. if u have six grand to spend, then a little roadtrip shouldnt hurt ur budget. plus if people are quoting sixty grand to do an engine swap, i dont think they know what they are doing, let alone know what an engine swap is. the only way u should pay them that is if they give you a bimmer as a loaner car to keep and warranty the engine for life with labor and parts included and if they supply you with gas for three years. lol.

My $.02

An RB26DETT would cost alot of money to make work in a 240sx. The Twin Turbos would get in the way of the steering column (I think that's what I remember reading). So u'd probably have to go single turbo anyway. Plus you'd have to use the RB25DET transmission. Why not just spend several grand less and go RB25DET? The power potential is similiar. You get 240-250hp at the ground with a tiny T25 turbo. Imagine if u upgrade the fuel system and put in a bigger turbo, what u could pump out. And I agree with an earlier poster. 400-450hp is alot more streetable then 600-700hp. Not to mention u can afford to miss every other gas station. :D

Eventually I will do an RB25 swap when I have the cash on hand. (being sure to upgrade the suspension, brakes, tires and wheels beforehand)

Just my $.02 tho. Especially after spending a little time talking with Night and Dauntt.
