I am about to get begin my RB swap. I decided to go with the 25 for now. I have a choice of either going with RB25DET S1/2 or the NEO version. I can get them for about the same price. Which one would you guys recommend ??

The Neo actually was released as a lev (low emissions vehicle) engine which meant that it had restrictions on it and is actually a piece because if you look to spec has journal bearing turbos which wear out too fast and are just a problem waiting to happen. the plain jane old rb25det is better and easier to tune and has 2 ball bearing turbos which are the best setup to get. If you study up on this neo engine and why it was created youll find that its a piece of crap that nissan came out with to raise hype but its actually nissans way of saving money on parts and going cheap.most of the neo engines come with a retuned ecu that isnt very tunable at all because of this pice of crap (going green)ecu and engine that nissan gave man-birth to. Go with a normal rb25 and consider it a good deal that you didnt fall for the same thing alot of people do by putting the neo on a pedestool like everyone else does. look here are the actual oem manufacturer given specs.RB25DET - twin-cam turbo (250 hp @ 6200 rpmNEO RB25DET - twin-cam turbo (216 hp @ 6400 rpm

who the f*** fed you that pile of bull****?

first of all the NEO makes 280hp. the turbos on both the NEO and regular rb25's are GARBAGE regardless of bearing style. they both explode above like 12 psi, where they become inefficient anyway so they belong in the trash with either motor.

the advantages of the NEO over the base rb25 are the solid lifters, top feed injectors, a better head and i believe a different (better) intake manifold along with much stronger internals.

what the neo IS, is a pain in the *** because its very difficult to get parts for and information for because they made subtle changes to it, and it was only made for a few years.

ROFLMFAO!!!....i cant believe what i just read. yo man no offense but you should prob do a little (no make that ALOT) more research on an engine that you obviously no nothing about before you go popping off. The NEO is hands down a better engine than the earlier version of the RB25. All of the differences Joe just pointed out there are also much stronger RB26 rods in there as well. yes they are somewhat difficult to gather info on but that is getting alot easier too with people such as myself modding them up. I LOVE my NEO and i can think of a single person who has one that doesnt love thiers too unless you get a person that doesnt know how to work on cars or know their way around nissans. Alot of the stuff on nissans is interchangeable so all you have to do is look.

um, that information is toally incorrect...a stock neo will walk all over a standard r33 rb25...i should know ive done both swaps and driven both.the neo is a great engine and is almost bulletproof but a few parts on it can make it a slight pain in the *** to deal with. the neo i installed threw down 256whp on a dyno dynamics dyno at 6-7psi of boost...a standard r33 engine can only dream of numbers like that.

incorrect... considering you'll need to buy a transmission, the downpipe work thats involved with the twins, oil pan work, P/S work, etc...as in everything else that comes along doing a 26 swap.

NEO is pretty much a 26 performing swap without having to do all the above mentionings.

Still 2 different monster though.

yea im aware of this. but im just saying thoretially speaking , the whole neo rb25 argument could possibly b solved with a 36 swap . best of both worlds or even an RB30DET!

ehhhhh my post count pwns yours. see another useles post.

I was just giving a buddy a hard time, look at where we are located... both in VERO BEACH... 1 + 1 = 2 homie =)

Either way, I like the Neo over the other RB25s, i know from marks experience, parts CAN be a little scarce, but you can make things work if you need to.

the reason that noone wanted that ca18 is because it had a f$%^ed up wiring harness, broken connecters and low compression on 3& 4he got it for 300 bucks
