Do a Leak down test!!!!!!!Pull off the intake pipe, open up the oil cap or dipstick and the radiator cap.

Follow the directions of the tester. Then listen to where you hear air coming out.

If you hear it from your ITM then your intake valves aren't sealing, if its from your exhaust likewise.

From your oil cap could be valve guides, then check your dipstick.

From your rad cap, its your HG.

Either way it sounds like your going to have to pull the head off the motor. So pick up some ARP studs a new HG.Timing belt, idler, tensioner, water pump,Front main seal if you have not changed them already.

It doesn't have to smoke to have low compression. You could have a poorly seating/bent valve. This might be your "loud ticking noise". Leak down test and don't start the car again until your source the issue and insure its not a valve train issue.
