Hey guy i have read some of the discussion from Nico forums about the timing setting on the RB25det @ 15 degreee and i just want to have few question about it. I'm new to RB motor and still learning so please help me so i can better understand the RB motor. Now ON MY RB25 NEO the timing currently read at 2.5 degree when i bought from the previous owner and idle at 800 RPM really good. Also i have ask some of the tuner here in ATL and they told to to set around 2-2.5 degree on the timing. Now seen i read that discussion on the forum i really confuse which DEGREE i should set on my NEO and HOW IT EFFECT IT Performance. Please help If i'm not wrong this there if seven white line on the pulley and front the left to the right my is currently at 2.5 degree. l l l l l l l ^

I read this discuss here: zer...accel

It needs to be at 15. Make sure your CAS is in the middle.

Sometimes it's easier to see if it's in the middle by removing one of the bolts (engine off). Make sure the bolt hole is in the middle of travel. Then take a timing gun to make sure it's at 15.

EH?, i did set it to 15 degree it run very good, but for some reason the bolt is almost all the way to the right of the travel hole. Could it been my Idle Air Controller setting, or maybe when the previous owner done a timing job on it a little off. i remeber he told that he put new timing on it. The motor currently idle at 800RPM @ 15 degree.

So with engine ON w/o vac supply? What about with engine ON and vac is supply and w/o accelerate? Mine run 31PSI with engine on w/ vac supply and no idle accelerate and w/ accelerate it run about 35-40psi. it that correct. Thnk alot

If it's at 15 when the bolt is all the way to the right try switching the position of the timing light pickup or make a temp spark plug lead to get an accurate reading. If it is still at 15, try checking the mechanical timing.

Eh? I did chang the position of the timming several time and tow days in a roll i keep check the timing when engine is warn still 15*. So spark plug temperature does matter ok. Now what if it was MECHANICAL TIMING what I should do? Do i have take out the timing to adjust that? What if i leave @ 15* w/ bolt almost to the right, what can it cause to the motor?

Stick it back in the middle to be safe. Are you pulling the TPS when you are checking? To check mechanical timing download the fsm. Basically pull the upper timing belt cover and check to see if the cam gears and crank pulley all align.

Got it. But the FSM for rb saying that we need to the CONSULT to do the timing. It there anyway we can with out the consult?

you dont need consult at all for the timing...thats only if you dont have a timing light, you can use consult's display screen to check timing without have to tap into the coilpacks etc. but you can use a timing light and get the same results .

So just disconnect the TPS (@600RPM) and use the timing light to check and set the timing to 15* and connect the PTS back on? And whatever degree the timing hit after the PTS connect back on, that is the degree is shold be. So normally w/o diconnect the PTS the timing will not be @ 15* correct?
