So I've had my NEO for a while now and I must say the stock ignition coils in my opinion (suck). So I decided to try a set of splitfire coils and they last for a little while and yet again I started to have issues yet again. So I said the hell with this madness and decided to move on to something that I know for a fact works extremely well and if I ever have future issues I know I wont have trouble finding replacments. Now , I will first say that I am in no way shape or form a GM fan but they do have some good stuff that works well will just about anything, that being said I decided to upgrade my NEO to the LS1 coils. Yes, I know the LS2 coils are more powerful but to be honest the LS1 coils look like a better fit for me. lets get on with it......

Image
I first started out with a steel template to get all my measurements just the way I wanted.

Image
here is the design I layed out and decided to go with

Image
I decided to go with alluminum instead due to the magnetic interference of the coils

Image
Here I have it all painted up and partially assembled to test for fitment

Image
Here she is all wired up and ready to go.

Once installed I must say the engine had never idled this smooth since ive owned it. I am waiting on a friend to send me his datalogit software setup do I can adjust the dwell to suit the coils ... (Note: I also went with a different spark plug from the one I was used to using, I went from a projected tip heat range 7 to a non projected tip heat range 7.. I would also like to say that I am able to make more of these if there is anyone out there interested.... shoot me an email and we can discuss it....

Looks clean. If I ever run into problems with mine, I guess these would be an option. How's the wiring? Pretty simple?

I have a NEO aswell I was trying to see if there was anything special for the wiring like resistors etc. I'm comfortable with wiring I just don't know the terminology.

"adjust the dwell to suit the coils" Since i don't want to google dwell I'll just ask would I be able to adjust the coil signal with NISTUNE to run the LS coils properly?

Wring Diagram would be helpful :)

So what does the cost of this work out to? I never priced ls coils, plus what else do you need, connectors from a junkyard or can you find them new as well?

Thanks for this, i have been thinking about doing this ever since i picked up a LS1 set up for about $40 off a forum. My only question is since you mounted them back on the hottest part of the engine won't they tend to burn out faster than needed just like the COP setup did?

The way they're currently mounted now is about as good as it gets in regards to heat. It's no different than the way it's mounted on an actual LSx. They're above the head and open to airflow.

The stock coils are affected by heat so much because they are *IN* the valley with the cover *TRAPPING* in all of the heat typically.
